But, conceptually, morality is the key issue here, right? My take is every position that considers homosexuality to be "immoral" is necessarily rooted in a religious system of ethics and morals. In a secular nation where religious beliefs are in theory applicable only to private lives, secular liberal notions of morality seem to have become orthodox, which I assume is why so many speak of their positions with the confidence you alluded to in the post. I don't always agree or disagree with these positions, just trying to make an observation, which is probably wrong...
