But when you're in an OTB everyday from open to close, I expect you should be able to punch in a trifecta without starting over six fucking times.

You are a good man Jorr.

That's what the novice windows are for. They even have novice signs for some of the machines I think.

I'm always so worried about pissing off the old school handicappers that whenever I have to use the actual humans to make a wager, I end up betting like I'm ordering from the soup nazi in Seinfeld. Balmoral. 3rd race. 2-5-7 trifecta box.

Between Eaglo working there and JORR likely knowing 100 different guys there, it is a crime that we havent had a Balmoral CSFMB event yet.

I don't really like the automatic tellers and prefer to go to a live clerk. Calling out the bets becomes second nature. Once in awhile when I'm buying gas I'll accidentally say, "Give me $30 to win on 7."

I don't believe most of the regulars at Magee's do a whole lot of drinking. I pretty much go by myself or drag my wife these days, but when I was hanging out with my crew at Sportsman's, we never drank. I can remember my friend Jerry who died saying, "I just can't see spending three bucks on a beer when I could be buying another tri ticket." This is the same guy who chided me for parking across the street at Maywood by saying, "You're betting thousands every night but you can't drop ten bucks to valet park?"

Fritzy likes to sip on his vodka. There's a guy named Jeff who always shows up halfway through the Meadowlands card and orders a dirty Martini. The Albanian fishmonger drinks Heineken. There's a group of Jamaicans who always order rudely and call the bartender "HEY!" instead of by her name. That pisses Fritzy off.

When I saw 714,Ruth popped in my head but I wonder how many people remember that number nowadays? As a Cub fan, another number is 190. Some came close in recent years, but not that close.

Back on subject,I had about 8-10 items the other day at Walgreens. The hot,tatted-up Asian chick in front of me was digging through her purse for about 3-5 minutes looking for cash to pay for her smokes. After the transaction, she spots a box of matches for cheap and wants to buy that, too. She started looking through her purse a 2nd time! She says "sorry" to the clerk. The clerk says: "No Problem" and I replied "Yeah, maybe for you". The Asian chick looked at me for a minute deciding if she had a retort, she didn't. Man,oh man..."pay your money and move it,honey"

This is laugh-out-loud hilarious. I went to Arlington a few times and had no clue what I was doing. I bet on horses that Earlie Fires was riding because I liked his name.

Always been intrigued by harness racing at Maywood and it's relatively close to the crib.

I never mind helping people with the machines, especially when those people are young ladies.

In seriousness there was a long post awhile back about what is wrong with horse racing. Rude live tellers is one of them. Everyone is a beginner once and ancient tellers that act put out because someone does not understand something should be reassigned to a job that does not involve dealing with people.

Yeah, Arlington is a different kind of place. The betting per cap has to be among the lowest in the industry. There are a lot of families of four out there. It looks more like Ravinia than like a racetrack. How can you get mad at some twenty-one year old sorority girl for trying to bet with the horse's name or complain that a grandmother is taking too long to make a show bet? That's just what you're going to get at AP. I'll usually try to stay at a fifty dollar window to avoid the aggravation. But I don't go there often anyway. Eight bucks or whatever it is just to get in? The concession prices are absurd. I'd rather just go to Trackside and have Tank wait on me in the dining room.
