Faking a heart attack before your opponent lands a punch doesn't constitute "handling" oneself in a fight.

I believe you.

It's a shame the Group Think infects this board like a virus.

Sad.

chas, if you're gonna show up and brandish your "nerd card" about old star wars games you at least gotta do it with the x-wing/tie-fighter/xwing-vs-tiefighter(XvT) series. those were easily the best star wars games ever made by a country mile.

my favorite ship was always the TIE interceptor. yeah up until the tie defender in XvT you didn't have a tie fighter with shields, but having the fastest and most maneuverable ship alongside 4 fucking laser guns was the preferred way to cruise through the galaxy in style. by the time they gave you the tie defender it was just kind of like they had to toss us imperalists a cookie so we weren't at a huge disadvantage for online play. it's all about the gears of the great intergalactic combine, baby.

in fact, in the off chance that i ever have a son someday i've saved my vintage star tours tie-interceptor shirt to hand down to the kid so if he ever goes the nerd/ish route he can do it with a modicum of style. what can i say, i'm a sucker for the industrial-grade mass-produced warships in the scifi unverses. my gundam collection is GM heavy cuz while there's occasionally fun mobile suits/mechs like the deathscythe hell custom for the superhero mobile suits, shit, give me my RGM-83 or my fucking hardygun every day of the week!

Oh I played that. I loved playing for the Bad guys. The point was that I found a game that was superposed long gone and dead killed by a major game company(SOE) and has been resurrected by its fans and is thriving. There are in fact several dozen servers up and running.

and while only i'm on the subject, i have to confess to the fact that my overall favorite mobile suit is actually a gundam with a slight caveat.... in the second gundam series called z-gundam, the anti-earth united government eventually got their hands on the second version of the original gundam, the rx-178 mkII, and gave it a proper paintjob to make it sleek and effectively camouflaged in the vast expanses of space. this, my friends, is the best damn gundam that they ever cranked out: the rx-178 mkII titans edition.

i'll still never forget the day when after a 6 month wait some taiwanese seller finally showed up and honored his e-bay deal to sell me a pre-built master grade rx-178mkII titans for $6. it's taken on some battle damage over the years but it still stands tall and proud looking off into the horizon like the future maanchester van united louis van gaal statue.

robotech? isn't that just a bastardized-for-america version of a few series of macross/plus? in terms of macross.... what do i know about macross?

Image

but yeah i don't wanna be condescending or glib so i'll take your advice and look up robotech sometime. or maybe i'll pop in that one $4 robotech DVD i picked up out on long island so me and the battle axe had something mindlessly fun and pretty to watch after we layed around in post-coital-existentialism.

TL;DR = =]

Back in ancient History, SOE lanched a game Called StarWars Galaxies,A truly awesome massive and diverse MMORPG. It was hard complicated and intense. It was not level based. It had skill trees so you could build your toon anyway you wanted. The economy was 100% player driven, the best equipment and weapons where made by players, everything was done by players. You could not start play as a Jedi,in fact they did not tell you how to unlock the in game code to allow you to start on the path to a Jedi,in fact it was not the same for every player. It took 9 months before the first Jedi appeared. The Game was set right after New Hope,It looked great, they introed space 6 months after launch. You did not need to group up to do a lot ofthe content like most other games. It was perfect, then they started fucking with it. First was the CU(Combat Upgrade) did some stuff not too bad but started the ball rolling on people leaving. then came the game killer NGU(New Game Upgrade) They said tey wanted to make it more "User Friendly " and to stop the player loss and mke it more fun, bullshit .They dumbed it down.Took away the skill tree and put in levels, starting players could be Jedi(Huge slap in the face to all of the people who sent months of work to unlock the secrets of the Force),the took away decay(equipment never worse our thereby killing player crafters(Like me)) Players left in droves, Servers started closing. A few months ago being bored I did a google search and looked at the games Wiki and they said there where private free servers running. For a game that was killed by Sony over 4 years ago???? So i looked and there is and still being played by a couple of thousands. One group is based out of the CME. So I bought a copy of the game, loaded it up and set up and wow it was as good as I remembered. They have it set up just like launch. Pre CU ,Pre NGE.Sometimes you can go home.

well hey sleep easy knowing that things worked out swell for pet-dragon-petter jeff samardzija in the end.

SHARK recovered from being down behind 3-0 in the count of life to strike that batter out with a ferocious K on a ballsy ball-4 in the dirt that induced a swing. SHARK samardzija (as to not confuse him with the dearly departed board legend who took his talents to larz beach) is a man, a myth, a legend. and when those pet dragons end up becoming penises..... well when in rome you know what they say, right?

they say "holy fuck all these guys can't be gay otherwise how does their civilization exist?!?!!"
