On the cusp of a 3rd Cup.

Without your astute drafting and the signing of Marian Hossa, most people in Chicago would still think that a Blackhawk was a predatory bird on the most endangered species list.

Thanks Dale, it never could of, or would of happened without you.

Agreed. He played a huge part in building this team. No one executive gets all the credit.

Seacrest you know I love ya, but I couldn't disagree more with your post.

Tallon had NOTHING do do with the Hossa signing. That was Bowman and McDonugh. Tallon was adament that he wanted to keep Havlat instead of signing Hossa.

When you actually look at what Tallon did, his fingerprints aren't on this team as much as you think. He drafted like shit aside from hitting on a #1 pick and a #3 pick. He also famously fucked up a different #3 pick (Cam Barker).

The Sharp trade, all him and kudos, but as you can see the value of Sharp has diminished greatly in the last couple years.

Keith wasn't a Tallon draft pick.

And let's not forget the contract mailing snafu that happened under his watch and cost us Niemi (not a big deal in the long run, but at the time it was either Niemi or Hammer).

So if you want to give Tallon SOME credit for 2010 that's fine. 2013, no. 2015, definitely NO.

Didn't Tallon draft Seabrook, Kruger, and Hjalmarsson?

I'd say Tallon was largely responsible for the first one and he made it very difficult to win the next two. But I don't blame Tallon for putting them in that situation. When you haven't won in forever you do whatever it takes to win. You don't tank more seasons in some oddball quest to "do it the right way".

As far as the contract mailing things goes, was that really Tallon's fault or did they just use that as an excuse to get him out when they wanted him gone? That whole thing was kind of murky. Bowman was there. Did mailing the contracts slip past him too?

The Hawks absolutely did tank, but they got four Hall of Famers out of it. I don't think the Cubs will have.

The rebuild has failed if the Cubs only get four Hall of Famers out of it. Considering Rizzo, Bryant and Arrieta are already locks, getting only one Hall of Famer out of Baez, Schwarber, Russell, Happ, Almora, Alcantara, McKinney, Edwards, Johnson, Underwood, Sands, Torres, and Stinnett would be a huge disappointment.
