Steph Curry is sending a Finals jersey to Drazen Petrovic's mom
By Ananth Pandian | NBA writer

In 1992, Stephen Curry's father Dell took part in the three-point contest during All-Star weekend in Orlando. Dell didn't make it out of the first round of the contest, only scoring 11 points but when he was competing, the mother of the late Drazen Petrovic took care of Steph.

Curry has never forgot about this moment and is sending one of his game-worn jerseys from the NBA Finals to Petrovic's mom. The jersey will be on display at the Drazen Petovic Memorial Center which is located in the Croatian capital of Zagreb.

----------

An amazing gesture by Curry, who has remembered the kindness of Petrovic's mother for the last 23 years.

That is pretty cool. For the younger members of the board who likely never saw Petrovic play, he was becoming an NBA superstar just before his
untimely death. He was an assassin from beyond the arc.

The guy could play but had some unreal expectations placed upon him when coming over. The media took to calling him the European Jordan. And that was when Jordan was ascending into other worldly status.

He was buried on the bench in Portland and never truly got a fair shake up there. He flourished with the Nets though. For anyone interested, the documentary ESPN produced, "Once Brothers" was a fascinating look at the powerhouse Yugoslavian national team that once was and the falling out between Petrovic and Vlade Divac. Not only did that team have Petrovic and Divac, but Dino Radja and Kukoc as well. Man that team was loaded.

The only thing that surpassed that team for me as a young basketball fan was the legend of Arvydas Sabonis. The stories you would read about that guy almost made him mythical. I know I'm biased, but It was great being a fan of basketball in the late 80's and into the 90's.
