NFL training camps are the most overblown sports events in existence. A bunch of made up stories to placate football inbreds until real football starts. The hand-wringing I hear from the media about all the new restrictions in place for reporting things is absurd. I hope an earthquake eats I-57 and all the turds going to watch practices are thrown into jets of magma.

I'm having a hard time mustering up any kind of excitement about the NFL this year. I've been slowly waning the last few years. I can see myself jumping ship entirely within the next couple years.

I kind of checked out on football a long time ago. The evolution of sports talk radio is the primary reason. I can't take wall to wall football talk. It usually begins right about now.

wasted discussions on meaningless players, fantasy draft talk repetitive updates are some of the reasons for it but there are other factors as well.

For me the level of interest does not coincide with the actual game. It's played once a week and it's talked about non stop for the next six days. 3 hrs of pre game then 6 hrs of post game. Then Monday morning quarterbacking talk. The absolute worst is that silly ass all access show. What does that do for you?

In terms of the Bears it's going to be more Cutler talk. It's overkill at this point. At least in baseball and hoops they are playing a lot of games. The football talk is so lame this time of yr that they have to drum up interest by talking about 5 string wide receivers.
I still watch the games but not as much as I used to.

I love football and I enjoy playing fantasy football, I just don't get all worked up about camp like people up here do. It is crazy, just let me have my summer.

it is overkill but fantasy football talk is one of the most insidious things on the radio. i'd rather listen to a prairie home companion. or die.

I agree, but I don't really care to die right now.

I'd rather listen to Jason Goff talk about his busted dishwasher.

You almost forget just how much better life is with it around. I guess that is the way to cope though.

Football is to talk radio as Christmas music is to The Lite.

That was a great kickoff to college football yesterday.

I heard some guy from the Score calling for 24 hours of college football on the first day. That is something I could support.

myopic response

the once a week 16-game schedule give each game enormous weight. the nfl is a national attraction so many listeners care about all teams. i love when shows talk shop with guest beat writers.
