Football coverage is obnoxious - awards are given to position coaches.

Who is the best assistant coach in the NBA? Best MLB Strength and Conditioning staff? Which NHL team has the best equipment manager lining up the sticks?

This wasn't an official award.

I never said it was.

I said football coverage is obnoxious. Pro Football Focus is a very popular site that covers football.

This board talks about hitting/pitching coaches all the time.

I know more about Chris Bosio than anyone should.

Hitting and pitching coaches are more akin to Coordinators in the NFL. More acceptable.

But please...point out where we've ranked the 30 hitting coaches on this board.

We've discussed pros and cons to coaches here in Chicago...and those with Chicago ties. Not really sure you'll find us discussing the benefits of Mike Borzello as a catching coach related to other catching coaches around the league.

This thread is discussing the best WR coach in the league. We've clearly talked about the best hitting coaches in the league. Same with pitching.

Well, in your analogy we'd be through two rounds. And I'm a huge fan of Bosio, I've been saying that on this board for years. He is one of the top pitching coaches in baseball, if not the single best.

But this rotation is good, and one could see Lester and Hendricks having better second halfs (halves?). Arrieta is proven, and I expect Hammel to have a good second half, even if some of he stats like WHIP climb more toward his career norm.

But this isn't April or May. We're over a week into July.

Mistresses have more effect than a hitting or pitching coach

If we knew their real names we would give them awards

You asked long time guy yesterday to link a post that you believed he was making up. So far you've linked person stating their opinion on one coach. Find where the board has named the consensus 'best assistant coach' in any league.

Again, long time guy, I've never said we don't discuss it. I say we've never made, as a board, any proclamation about 'Best Pitching Coach: Chris Bosio.'

Finally, Pitching Coach = Defensive Coordinator. Not WR Coach.

He sets the pitch selection for the next sequence same as the defensive coordinator calls the coverages during a drive.

I linked you naming a best assistant(pitching) coach!

This board can't come to a consensus on anything so I don't know why you'd expect me to be able to find one on best pitching coach.

Sure, IMU thinks that. CSFMB has discussed it.

Who did we name?

edit: Then you have no argument and no point. I never said we don't discuss chicago based coaches

So what is the difference between you naming a position coach the best in MLB and some guy on another website doing the same?

I think Quality Control coaches are underappreciated.

There should be an award for them.

I don't run the 23,000th most popular website on the internet with 62,000 unique visitors per day, and one of the most popular sites overall that covers NFL. I don't hand out year end awards to serve as clickbait content.

Where are top bullpen coaches, or equipment managers, or strength and conditioning?

The Cubs have a LOT of Hall of Famers. They all don't even get Mesa Spring Training invites. Some actually have to train at Wrigley during the winter months.

One of the strength and conditioning exercises is to help steady steel beams while the construction teams weld and bolt them together.
