I think it is, RFDC. The two teams have played pretty much the same but Sox fans seem guardedly optimistic while Cub fans think their team is one of the best that has ever played the game.
Not quite. The Cubs have scored some runs in bunches. The Sox have won thier 5 with good pitching and timely hitting. The latter is much easier to sustain.

When have the Sox maintained timely hitting?

I will agree about one guy in particular, Lackey. The 84 MPH cutter, "I am working on some things" needs to stop. Its one thing to get hit hard in an inning, but your first 6 innings, could be an issue.

Lets just say I will be watching Wed night very closely because that 84 MPH cutter didnt fool anyone in the spring or in game 1, everyone was looking for it, but the guy has been throwing it for 12 years, the question is, was he also throwing 95 at that time and now the heater is 90? So the 84 doesnt look that much different.

Get me through the first half of the season, then go out and get another top pitcher for the second half and one again, dont care how Kyle or Jason are doing at that time, want another pitcher in the second half.

welcome to the internet.

I understand that. You won't find me on Twitter or Facebook for just that reason. Around here, I'd like to think we can be more constructive since this is a sports fan message board. There are people intentionally stirring the pot at every possible opportunity. That's fine and fun in small doses.

Well... for honest I'd say if it's been 11 years since timely hitting was a factor it's hardly more likely to be sustainable.
As far as clever.... yikes.

Are the Cubs the only team not beholden to their miserable past?

I have constructive posts and I have trolling posts. Am I supposed to just smile and wave at the ridiculousness I have seen/heard about the Cubs since at least the day Theo walked across Lake Michigan on the cover of the Sun Times? Am I honestly supposed to respond to that with sensible and muted posts?

Of course it is intentional. I reserve unintentional annoying for family.

Jed and Theo laid out a plan that appears to be working as intended. You'd get a lot more credibility by arguing why you think it is not working or why Theo does not deserve praise. Instead you start meaningless threads to troll Cubbie Nation.

If I were to play devil's advocate, I would start with the crazy money given to Lester and Heyward. And on the Heyward thing, then they go an sign Fowler. My preference- just sign Fowler, and spend the Heyward money on Zimmerman.

all of that has been done in legitimate posts and conversations. I've detailed many times in respectful threads over the years that any plan involving tanking for three years is a scourge on the game. That has been supported by none other than Theo himself as he advocated for a change in the draft system to avoid tanking.

How would you like me to respond to things like yesterday being a statement game, or Soler getting bigger as he matures, or any other of the unchecked silliness? If you were to tell me Hawk is a senile old coot for his TWTW, I'd agree with you. However, I wouldn't have to because his work is held up for criticism. Who is similarly checking statements about the Cubs?

You and me. We can do it. There are no regular statement games in baseball, period. Most players get bigger as they age, but often in a bad way (sorry Mr Gwynn).

I've been checking Lester love all morning.

Least shaky in all of baseball.

That Rockies pitching staff might go down as the worst of all time. They literally have nothing in the starting rotation.
