Very smart move on his part. Release photo of yourself smoking weed night before draft, drop from #1 to #12 cause NFL teams are idiots and now for the cost of losing out on a few $$ in his initial contract he gets to go to a better situation and avoid becoming the next Joe Thomas.

Dolphins first great first round pick since Marino and he fell to them as well. Marino had a weed or drug issue as well as bad knees coming out of Pitt. HOF.

I thought it was particularly funny when he had his brief presser & actually gave honest, direct answers until the NFL/agency person stepped in to end it all.

It was even funnier how Todd McShay(ESPN) then questioned his maturity for giving honest, direct answers.

According to draft experts, he lost out on at least 5 million dollars, probably more. To call that a few $$ is silly. Then he admits to taking money, which will likely result in his school being investigated and perhaps punished. But I guess that's okay because he's leaving? This guy has shown a propensity for bad judgment. Nomination denied.

He gained a lot of credibility in my book when he was open and honest. I'll cheer for him now.

I was thinking, it would have been funny if that post had "Denver, CO" on the bottom of it. Society needs to get over the whole weed thing, which I think is starting to happen.

You really are a shill for the terrible corporate ass-licking takes from people at ESPN, aren't you. You probably loved what Todd McShay had to say about this.

The fact is that he was open, candid, and honest about how a corrupt system needs to be fixed.

I'm sorry you don't like change for the better.

By maturity, McShay was talking about him not being aware enough to realize the gravity of his comments. What effect they might have on himself and his school. He was apparently oblivious of the far reaching effects they very well may have.

He admitted what was already openly believed and partially proven by his texts posted as evidence of the small payment to help his mother. His school has been under investigation for years now for the thinly veiled "improper" recruiting going on there for three years now. Starting with their recruiting of Nkemdiche(& his brother a year earlier ), Treadwell & him.

If he lied about it or just evaded the question, how would you view that?

I will be rooting for the young man

And I may dress up for him for Halloween. That's a pretty simple costume.

McShay lives a well paid life based off of being a commodities analyst & being an ass kisser to those in "power" on college campuses nationwide. That the "commodity" is a 20-23 year old kid should really cause him to reconsider his own public value. Especially when he goes out of his way to fellate ol' State U by publicly blasting a kid as immature when telling the truth. I'd call a prick like McShay as being immoral verging on the obscene by doing this for ad revenues for a place as hyena-like as ESPN.

Alleged cocaine use. No charges, no attempts at public proof.

Moss and Sapp were weed guys too I think. They both still went high (pardon me) but they slipped a bit.

Moss skipped the combine and test altogether. (Your hands cant hit what your eyes cant see)

Moss' other issues were really what nailed him. Check out the 30 For 30 episode on Rand University. It may not make Moss a more sympathetic figure, but it makes his fall all the more questionable given what is/was known about many pro athletes, even back then.

Actually I had that one saved for a while and never got around to it. Definitely want to watch that.

Had he evaded the question, I would recognize that the young man understood the possible ramifications of answering the questions openly and honestly and decided not to lie, but also not to offer up information that could be damaging. Instead the NFL PR staffer had to whisk him away as he blurted out things that he should have known better than to offer up. In general, he came off as really dumb. Not just his poor judgment, but in general. He may be a very good player in the NFL. He certainly was in college. But the idea of this thread that he did the right thing in posting the picture (which he says was posted by someone who hacked into his account) is ridiculous, if you look at the money it has cost him. It can't help him getting endorsement deals either.

You really twisted yourself into a knot to not answer the question about how you would view him if he just evaded the question. Saying he "understood the possible ramifications..." doesn't really answer the question now does it.

Instead you just called him "dumb" and as having "poor judgement" 2-3 sentences later for telling the truth after the draft.

I would view him as smart to evade the question that could only be a problem if answered openly and honestly. Instead he just blurts out information that a middle school kid should know might be a problem. Naïve at best, really stupid more likely.
