My nominee for most underrated month.

While some may not like it for its lack of holidays and perception of being hot, i.e. "dog days" and parents and teachers are freaking out because of the impending start of school, I enjoy it for many reasons:

*Shortening days make one appreciate summer all the more.
*Even if it is hot during the day, evenings are mostly still quite comfortable.
*FOOTBALL MISTER!
*Baseball heating up.
*Combo chorus of cicadas and crickets.

Loving August. Spent four days in Vermont last week. Headed to Lake Geneva this weekend. Two Pearl Jam shows next weekend. Life is good!

August is a bummer. Means the end of summer to me. My hatred of Winter starts up.

Last night was the realization that summer is almost over. It was 8:00, and it was almost dark. That, and the kids go back to school next week.

agreed. I hate back to school as much as the kids do. I hate waking up during twilight rather than sun. August feels like an ending to me.
