While many sites are dumping writers for video, The Athletic is going the complete opposite route and finding success. They just raised $5.8MM in VC capital. It looks like Chernin Group was one of the companies buying a stake.

I proudly subscribe to them for Scott Powers' work on the Hawks. He covers them in depth and without churning out the typical crap that the lazy bullshit beat writers *cough* Laz *cough* tend to write.
