The video is hilarious. first the dad wants to go viral with a passionate attack against Nassar, then some Caller Bob comes in right after him to make some dumb speech about how attacking Nassar only means Nassar wins (which makes no sense) in her own grandstanding effort.
The judge, the proseuctor, the victims, the victims parents...everyone is just soaking this for all the attention they can possibly get. This isn't about justice, its just ego starved narcissists clamoring for the spotlight I would call this trial the nadir of American society, but its not. It only gets worse.
The sticking point here is that these proceedings were a condition of Nassar's plea deal, so he agreed to this in exchange for a shortened trial.
Without that caveat—if the judge was just making Nassar sit there and listen to anyone who wanted to come up and say whatever they wanted to him—we'd be getting close to cruel and unusual.
Even with that caveat, after this assault (which is understandable, but it is still assault) to keep trotting a restrained Nassar out there and giving people even the opportunity to be in the same room with him is edging closer and closer to that "unnecessary and wanton infliction of pain" stuff.
