There is absolutely no basis for this thought.

If you think states won't be belligerent with each in violation of mutual benefit I refer you to the year 1914 when Europe willingly demolished their world order and sewed the seeds of their reduced global relevance.

Has happened countless times throughout history.

There is plenty of basis.

The first is that the United States would easily "win" against them. The second is that the war would be fought almost entirely on their continent. The third is that the United States would cancel all debt we owe them even after the war. The fourth is that every neighbor they have would join our side immediately outside of Russia, and even Russia in the event of a true world war may very well decide that we are better allies than enemies given that Europe would all join up with us too and Russia needs Europe for the future of their economy just as bad as China needs us.
