If you're looking for fast and lean highlights, then I suppose that would be one of them, yes. I believe you can add that his offense was taken, if I recall correctly (and if not, sorry), post-sale and that he had some hair-brained scheme to nuke the whole bored if his orders weren't followed ... thus the backup being put into place somewhat ahead of time completely unbeknownst to him ... and why I, and I suspect a number of others, really thoroughly enjoyed his last few nutwagon threads and terribly veiled threats and whatnot.

Neat

So his scheme to nuke the whole thing was based on what, some sort of Dr Evil type plot, except instead of one (1) million American dollars, he was going to do it because Joe Orr Nas Seacrest wouldn't ban Farvio, Leash, Chuse, McNown, et al? And he's since moved to Arizona, the Meth capitol of the world?

Wrong I got dundard. Arizona is not the meth capital of th world, that would be the Quad Cities.

I can't decide if he ever really thought that or if he just got himself all ginned-up enough that he just felt like giving the board the ol' Saddam statue treatment just to be pissy-punitive, like an adult (??) version of taking one's ball and going home.

I don't reckon it matters what the reasoning was at this point .... the only thing is it was just a needlessly unfortunate scenario whatever the case may have been.

The irony is I like Nas and JORR (Seacrest I know nothing really about) more than bigfan.

The guy banned me for saying that his clearly racist post was racist. He banned FF and Leash for saying that he went overboard in banning me. While I was banned, he spent a week questioning my duties as a husband and father because he didn't like me. He threatened to ban anybody who dared to defend me. The guy who grew up in a family with generational wealth mocked others for their employment situations. And then of course, he broke an agreement, and tried to sabotage the entire board, screwing the 3 Wisemen out of money. Yet, you call my character into question.

What positive things should FF, Leash, and I be saying about him?

The thing that Is odd is that everyone he specifically mentioned had no issue going toe to toe with biggie to his face. He acts like everyone who had beef got internet muscles when he left and that simply isn't the case.

His biggest problem was losing sight of what made this place great. It's all about the characters here. Every single poster makes this place what it is. He wanted his exclusive board, with certain people only talking about certain things. His opinions on most issues are just terrible (like complaining about kids having drinks and snacks after a baseball game), and often uninformed. Other than the humor of his spelling and grammar errors, his posts were awful. His board was terrible, and it died a quick death. Meanwhile, this place hasn't skipped a beat without him.

Funny thing I saw during the beak down of the board server was a post of yours. Out of boardom I looked at the Bigfan board and yours was the only 2017 post or something. You gave him a big fuck you or something. I laughed pretty good.

I harbor no remaining ill-will against bigfan. That would be wasted energy. But his memes are, and always will be, hilarious... They must be passed down for generations.

It's been over for a long time. Out of nowhere, America starts a thread about bigfan, and accuses others of not letting things go.

Absolutely. They are part of the board's history, and for that, we thank him.

And the subject of the thread is an event that happened from time to time when bigfan still ran the board.

To be fair to bigfan, he never explicitly said this to me, but I got the impression he actually wanted the board to be a big tent where a person could read it for the first time and immediately be comfortable creating a log-in and posting. I think he thought the circle-jerky stuff was intimidating to a newcomer and I'm not sure he's wrong. But you can't stop people from making friends and talking the way they talk and having inside jokes and going to Darkside's barn dance or meeting up to watch hockey in DeKalb. I would say those things are good for the board. But I also don't really have an eye toward ever monetizing it.

If there weren't connections and inside jokes, this place would just be the message board at nba.com (filled with virgins, FF, and veganfan). One must pick a lane. Either it's personal and circle jerkey or it's sterile and fact-based. The latter never would have made it for a local, relatively unfocused message board.

I generally agree with you but I think there's a balance to be had. It's just like immigration. A country needs it to stay vital. A message board needs new blood too. People come and go. You lose a Sucker's Playground or a Jalepenos and More and you hope someone replaces them. Like I said, he never explicitly expressed it to me, but I think bigfan was very cognizant of how a guy who discovered the board and wanted to talk sports was going to perceive it. Personally, I think the best approach is to just stand back and let it all be.

Hell yes, it does - couldn't agree more. But, to use your example, those new members must be assimilated. This board, and any form of communication, has a culture. That culture was, admittedly, started and maintained by bigfan. But it's not as though this board could have ever been all sports talk or all radio talk all the time. The culture of this board requires a concentrated core of people who get very little fulfillment from their jobs or families and need an outlet to grab-ass and make dick jokes while pretending to talk about sports. New members need to inderstand that and buy into it, and the worthy ones do.

That might have been his biggest issue and why he lost his shit when you pointed out the racism or otherwise backward ass shit he posted. I think he truly believed this board was a "something" to the real word and was trying to find a way to make money off of it.

Resistance is futile.

I lurked in the B&B section for a while and then I joined up. I think it's pretty clear after a thread or two what kind of place this is. I enjoy the different characters. The people who don't probably never post after reading a page or two.

If you hate Laurence, then don't listen - don't comment. When he co-hosts the B&B show, take that day off ... listen to an old podcast of a Bernstein solo show and jerk off all day.
