I don't think the details matter. There are certain things you just should not text/email for regardless of what the relationship is or what the circumstances are. Would his Dad text him to say that his mother had just died? I would hope not and if he did, the Dad would be 100% in the wrong.

The details we know is that the Dad got a text from his son while eating dinner. Thats pretty heavy stuff. I can fault the Dad for not supporting his son, but I cannot fault him for being upset or hurt at the way it went down.

He's not upset at the way it went down, he's upset that his son is gay.

Maybe he was an asshole abusive father and he was just texting him to give him a heads up in case media asked.

Maybe the dad told him, dont ever come in my house with that sinful lifestyle

We dont know. Not everyone has the same relationship with their parents. Im sure you'd scoff at certain things I do in regards to my parents but if you knew the private details, youd understand

I was joking regarding that first comment.

He is wrong for being upset that his son is gay. Who knows what the circumstances are or were, its just IMHO something like that should not be told any kind of electronic media, that's all.

Yeah, ideally that's a face to face thing, I agree. Just saying, sometimes there are extreme circumstances.

And maybe he couldnt keep up with his Dad's tour of America's worst restaurants.

My Dad and I will frequent Denny's before golf during the summer. Him being a diabetic, there are certain foods and restaurants that throw his count way out of whack, and Denny's is not one of them so he loves it. It is nowhere near my favorite (it would probably get 2 Brent faces), but for $3 I can get a coffee and a small order of biscuits and gravy. Nothing wrong with that.

I love breakfast food. By far my favorite. That place fucks up Eggs, Hashbrowns and sausage.

I mean, Im pretty sure they're just microwaving Great Starts back there.

Their milkshakes are passable.

Oh don't get me wrong. Overall Denny's is terrible. But its pretty hard to fuck up coffee and a biscuit with some gravy on it. Plus if it keeps the old man happy, thats cool with me.

anyone else see the irony of an African American sitting in a Denny's contemplating his bigotry

Not at all, but would you disown your child if 10 years from now he told you he was a Red Sox fan?

He should have considered that he loves his son and what his bigotry would mean to their relationship.

If, God forbid, my son told me that he was gay, of course I would still love him. It does not, however, mean that I would have to be super happy about the news.

Michael Sam does not have a relationship with his parents. When he was home from school, he would stay at friend's houses.

Concur. Sounds like a relatively disfunctional family situation.

There's a big gap in between not being super happy and shitting all over his lifestyle in public.

He probably suspected for years but didn't want to believe it..the guy seems like a huge asshole, reminds me of tony dungy. He is probably a bible thumper who still believes being gay is a choice. real dick move to not publicly support him..regardless of how he really feels.

There is no doubt the father should have known the son was a gay. I suspect the reason the family was this way was because the father effectively disowned him years ago.

There are numerous cases to support the fact that in some instances, being gay is a choice. To say otherwise is willful ignorance.

And I'm traveling to the East Coast so I'll be quite busy trying to re-route all that.

Haven't read this whole thing. Did the dad call up the times to shout this or as is usual today some jagoff reporter hunts the old coot down and shoves a mic in his face?

RPB said this for a while around here. He posted a study where folks changed their preference.

If you have an interest, it's not to hard to find examples. Like I said, if you have an interest.

I have to disagree a little with Seacrest here. I am not a scientist, but it is my belief that homosexual people are born as homosexuals. That being said, I feel bad for them, as I do not think you can just change into a straight person by choice.

Its also not hard to keep referencing studies and facts (like the back alley abortions as one exaple) and never, ever post any evidence that backs up your so called findings.
