Can you show us where Kentucky law states you are allowed to perform the duties of elected office unless it goes against your religious beliefs?

Strawwomen or men. It's all you usually bring to a discussion. Unless you pack a red herring.

I still love you though.

I can show you where the Constitution gives her the right to religious objections.

Her duties were to grant licenses for legal marriages. There was nothing in her job description that said it was her duty to grant marriage licenses to straight couples.

This is why she is in jail.

Incorrect. Again.

Her job was to grant licenses for marriage as defined by the Constitution of the Commonwealth of KY.

That definition has changed.
This is not true. It was her job to grant marriage licenses based on the legal guidelines of marriage. The legal guidelines changed but it is her job to enforce the legal guidelines.

You don't have the right to stop others from doing the paperwork though.

When the next election comes around, you should go run for a different office or get a civilian job.

Do you find this to be an unreasonable solution PM?

Yes.

If she feels strongly enough to break the law because of religious objections then she should resign.

I'm sure many people made the same argument when the Supreme Court ruled against laws banning inter-racial marriage in 1967. Would you support them as well?

"I'm not a racist. I just don't believe in mixing the races that way," Bardwell told the Associated Press on Thursday. "I have piles and piles of black friends. They come to my home, I marry them, they use my bathroom. I treat them just like everyone else."

Bardwell said he asks everyone who calls about marriage if they are a mixed race couple. If they are, he does not marry them, he said.

"I've been a justice of the peace for 34 years and I don't think I've mistreated anybody," Bardwell said. "I've made some mistakes, but you have to. I didn't tell this couple they couldn't get married. I just told them I wouldn't do it."

Would it have been analogous if he had specifically cited a religious objection? Would you be ok with it if he had?

And yes, there are people who believe that. From religious-tolerance.org
Anti-miscegenationists -- persons opposed to interracial marriage -- come in a variety of types:
Some are simple racists -- most often white supremacists -- who regard all non-whites as intrinsically inferior to all whites. Non-whites are often referred to as the "mud" races.
Others believe that God divided humans into different races and expected them to remain separate from each other forever. Many use verses and phrases from the Hebrew and Christian scriptures (Old and New Testaments) to justify their ban on interracial marriage.

He can't cite a religious objection. Nor did he try to.

And if you want to judge Judeo-Christains by the actions of an idiotic few, I'm certainly not in a position to stop you.

Everytime I see a debate where religious beliefs are the crux of a position it invariably is a bigoted position to begin with. Religious beliefs tend to be justification for bigotry. I love God. I can't stand religion.
