Most states have true balanced budgets. Clinton balanced it. Obama was closing in on it. My damn Republicans just keep prioritizing tax cuts and military spending over fiscal sanity. That being said, the corporate tax code needed a revamp to fix major flaws in the global tax regime. Then again, entitlements are off budget and on auto pilot with fake (read cash flow) accounting that makes them look to be in balance. Medicare under true accounting is about $40 trillion in the hole according to the treasury’s financial disclosures.

The answer to the problem is not throwing more mountains of money at defense.

China is expanding their reach around the world as we isolate ourselves.

The answer is diplomacy and development of positive business and political relationships with the rest of the world.

This is hilariously wrong. We need to spend defense money smarter. We don’t need to spend more. Spending 2-3x what we currently produce will just increase inefficient and wasteful spending and would literally be the equivalent of throwing hundreds of billions of dollars into an incinerator.
