Its nice of him to come out and make this statement A DAY AFTER people voted on it in North Carolina. How pathetic. Fucking spineless...

Perhaps the N.C. results were the straw the broke the camels back. Besides, had he issued this opinion before the election the vote wouldn't have changed but his inability to "influence" the results would have been viewed as a political loss.

Why did it take you so long Mr. President? Why were you against equal rights for all consenting adults?

I don't agree with the lifestyle and I struggle with my views on it but I could never be against any consenting adults deciding how they want to live their lives. Seeing a gay couple with wedding bands does absolutely nothing to harm my family. If this is a religious issue then let God judge them like he'll judge all of us for the decisions we've made in our lives.

This isn't courageous IMO. We've all known how the president has truly felt about the issue but he didn't have the political spine to lead from the beginning.

So you support polygamy too?

I don't personally have any issues with it. It does nothing to negatively effect my life. If they're all happy then I'm fine with staying out of their lives. I'll let God judge them.

So you think it should be legal?

If it were legal I wouldn't have an issue with it. Just like I'm not going to go out and marry another man I wouldn't go out and marry 7 women either. If someone else wanted to I wouldn't have an issue with it. I personally don't believe the government should decide these things. State or Federal.

Well at least he is coming out and taking sides. Not like he did not do it when he was running for Senate in 2006 when he said he was against gay marriage because it was against his faith.
Nice job, flip flopping all over the place dude. Plus,he is giving a speech for GLADD Monday.

I think people get wrapped up in the lives of others. While I wouldn't want my son to have a relationship with another man if he made that decision I would still love and support him. Same thing with my daughters being with another woman. I have a FB friend that was posting thoughts about hurting his brothers when he found out they were gay. That's just stupid.

I think one of the unspoken concerns is the actual financial cost of allowing polygamous (and to some extent homosexual) marriages. The tax burden could be great. It also opens up common law marriage issues.

Having said that, I don't believe financial implications should override personal freedom. People may find it morally unacceptable, but considering the state of marriage and other issues within society, taking a hard line on these issues is almost laughable.

I don't want multiple wives. I want multiple brother husbands.

Sarcasm turned completely off .... just a simple question:

Can anyone point me to the place in the Bible that specifically and explicitly says polygamy is wrong?

(Don't answer with, for example Christological parallels - e.g., Christ the Groom and the church his bridegroom means one-to-one ... it's a fair comparison, but it's not an actual explicit statement)

Quite transparent of the POTUS. He must be really worried to play this trump card so early in the game.

One wife is enough, who the hell in their right mind would want to deal with multiple wives? I mean sure, if it was purely sexual. I brought this up with my wife one night while I had been drinking, she didn't seem to agree that I could have multiple women for my sexual pleasure, go figure!!

Somebody saying that they are opposed to gay marriage because its against their own religion is like telling somebody else not to eat a donut because you are on a diet.

Nice answer. Why don't you tell me that he's "still deciding what his position on immigration is,” like his Hispanic Outreach director did. At least Obama has the balls (although way too late) to say what he thinks no matter that it will doom him in most red states. Mitt wouldn't have the balls to tell you what time it is unless a focus group and polling confirms what his watch says.

We are not talking about Mitt here ,We are talking about the President and What he said. Wow,stick to the topic and not divert to another. If you want to talk about Romneys b.s. stance on immigration then start a freaking thread. Stop derailing threads when you do not like the way they are going. Okay?
