Yikes, this is good and bad.
Bad - Gives Mully & Hanley, Mac & Spiegs, B&B impression they're doing a good job.
Good - ESPN may wake up and attempt to compete with the 'SCR.

I don't care what the ratings are. Ratings don't mean anything. B&B is not a show for the general populace. I would say this is more of an indictment of CJH than anything else.

And it certainly isn't a show for people who enjoy good radio.

well, I'd say that makes you part of the general populace. Congratulate yourself...

Right. Its a show that panders to moderately intelligent sports fans by convincing them that they are enlightened, whereas most fans are morons. It makes the moderately intelligent feel better about themselves.

Certainly is trying to be one, what with its most favorable time slot on a major radio station and all.

The ratings in the 1pm-6pm slot would be considerably higher if it were given to Mac. I expect that the Revolution taking place will result in a reversal of ratings in the afternoon sports talk shown.

The score is not good, I listen less now than anytime since I was 19 n listened often..I like background. Noise while working...these ratings only indicate how awful ESPN is...this all changes if Harry n waddle are fired...hood gets a show ..n Mike/Mike are replaced with something local.

I agree where Waddle is concerned. He brings very little to the show, especially when it's not Football season. Completely disagree about Hood. he shouldn't even get nights. Weekends and as a fill in only. Mike and mike is a tough one. They have a national tv show as well as radio show. It has created an audience that might be lost if local programming were put in it's place. Unless the personality put in that slot were really outstanding, I'm not sure the ratings wouldn't slip.

False. Evidenced by the total and complete dumbasses that call B&B on a daily basis.

It's a show that advances racial stereotypes and fights passionately on behalf of billionaires and corporations?

Um....no.

Um, yes. That's exactly what happens. Which is why City of Fools loves saying its a "niche show" because only a small amount of people even get it

Not every single person that listens, but most

Of course, IMO

First statement reads as fact. So the "of course" isn't so obvious.

I just disagree with your opinion of the show. To me, it's a wide ranging audience. From the people who love their strange humor, to the people who enjoy being pissed off by the things they say and can't seem to change to something more enjoyable.

It works on many levels...

Oh its a fact that some people see the show that way. Not all. That's the part thats just my opinion.

See, you still cant even fathom that someone enjoys an opposing viewpoint.

I dont get that. I get not liking the same type of thing, but I dont get not getting that others do.

No "facts". Just opinion.

You can say some but when you move into the most category, you are merely guessing. Unless you've done some sort of market research.

It's all just opinions. We like what we like. But lets not act like your statements about the show are more accurate than anyone elses...

30000 posts worth of market research.

But anyway, some is fine.

Well of course Im gonna act like my statement is more accurate. I wouldnt say it if I didnt believe it to be accurate. Feel free to dismiss it.

I think a show that prides itself on making fun of dumb sports fans caters to those who believe themselves to be smart sports fans. I dont think thats much of a leap.

Funny, it's always been noted how B&B lose the big ratings lead they get from the midday show. 8) Certainly doesn't look that way anymore.

But & more importantly: "WHO'S THE GREATEST NUMBER SEVENTEEN IN CHICAGO SPORTS HISTORY"?!?

So all of their listeners post here? Otherwise your "research" is extremely flawed and worthless.

If I based my research on what I see here, I'd say their audience is 90% made up of people that would rather bitch and moan about something for 4 1/2 hours (or there about). But that would be inaccurate.

The audince is made up of lots of different people. Your statement makes it look like you are better than these preceived fake-smart fans and are able to see the show for what it truely is. I think thats far fetched. Sure there are some of those people listeneing. Just like there are a bunch of "meatballs" listeneing. And actual smart fans. And so on.

That's exactly how I feel.

Its not all listeners though. And I was being a smart ass about market research. You're right, I haven't done any.

And I see the show as nothing more than entertainment.

Two guys with (sometimes crazy) opinions that have an odd sense of humor and enjoy pissing people off.

I enjoy it becasue they often times have a different take on things than the other shows do. Right or wrong. It's different.

Whether Bernstein is "smart" or not never really crosses my mind but seems to for a lot of people here. Seems to make people angry for some reason. Why do I care if he thinks he's smart? Everyone has stupid sports thoughts.

But that's just how I see it...
