Paczki tastes fine, but I agree with others that it isn't anything to get worked up about. Apple fritters are just as good and you can get those all the time.

Like any pastry, the quality of paczkis entirely depends on the skill and knowledge of the baker. Go to a great bakery, and you will likely be able to obtain a great paczki, just as you likely would be able to obtain a great eclair, napoleon or cupcake. Go to a mediocre bakery and the result will be less than satisfying.
