Beardown: When, when did I ever refuse an accommodation? All of you know me here. When did I ever refuse, except one time? And why? Because I believe this SCORE 670 business is gonna destroy us in the years to come. I mean, it's not like gambling or liquor, or even women, which is something that most people want nowadays and is forbidden to them by the pezzonovante of the church. Even the police departments that have helped us in the past with gambling and other things are gonna refuse to help us when it comes to narcotics. And I believed that then - and I believe that now.

Beardown I hoped that we could come here and reason together. And as a reasonable man, I'm willing to do whatever's necessary to find a peaceful solution to these problems.

ever try Sobieski Vodka? Used to be like 9.99 a fifth on the bottom shelf at Binny's. As good as smirnoff of stoli.

I posted here about Sobieski a couple of years ago. Its very good and a great value. Its about $17 for a handle at Binnys and Woodmans. Same price as Svedka, Smirnoff and Skyy, but much much better.
My Vodka of choice is still the Costco Kirkland tall handle bottle for $19.99. It's Grey Goose at less than 1/2 the price.

Beardown: My youngest son, Beardown cracker ass JR, was forced to leave this country because of this Big Fan business. All right. And I have to make arrangements to bring him back here safely, cleared of all these false charges. But I'm a superstitious man. And if some unlucky accident should befall him - if he should get shot in the head by a police officer, or if he should hang himself in his jail cell, or if he's struck by a bolt of lightning - then I'm going to blame some of the people in this room. And that I do not forgive. But that aside, let me say that I swear on the souls of my grandchildren, that I will not be the one to break the peace that we've made here today.

What is your whiskey of choice?

knappogue castle:

http://www.drinkspirits.com/irish-whisk ... h-whiskey/

$20 bottles of Irish Whiskey as well: Powers, 2 Gingers (new one to me, v good tho) even Jameson.

Canadain whiskeys: Crown Royal, CC...even Kessler (yeah, they still have this in the hinterlands).

Jeff at the lower Michigan Ave Billy Goat got me into George Dickel a bit. Even tho I hate Jack Daniels, I'll drink George Dickel.

Beam over Jack if at a total dive and that's all they have.

the Binny's white or private label single-malts ($60 a bottle or better) can be hit or miss but mostly hit. Once I find one I like I'll end up buying a case of that series. They're usually hand-numbered.

that's probably when/where I heard about it then. That makes sense. I thought it had some connection to this place.

Handle = the big 1.75 liter jug? so that's 2+ fifths. Damn, good price.

I drank it at my Polish neighbor's house. Not bad at $16.99 for 1.75L bottle.

Yes,it's unfortunate when you see an old-timer like Frank removed from the family. The question you have to ask yourself is: "How much needling & cheap shots can one guy take?"

It's easy to overlook when it's not directed towards you. BF gave him one chance not too long ago. He came back and "OOPS,He did it again".

You drink it not because it tastes excellent (it does) but because of who Jan Sobieski was.

As have I. It's my dad's favorite.

Had a few Moscow Mules last weekend. What's with the copper cup? I was too embarrassed to ask the server why and too lazy to look online. Seems most drinks would benefit from the coldness it provides, but what the hell do I know.

It felt good to be a hipster if but for a moment.

Been here a while.....most of a decade. Enjoy reading the back and forth.

I think everyone should be brought back.

My brother pisses me off sometimes but he's my brother and we still tip a couple back whenever we get the chance.

They should all come back and I don't even like them all but this place is better with them.

I appreciate everything that bigfan has setup here. He's been great. This place is great.

But, the posters here also add value which adds greatly to why this is such a daily can't-miss place to peruse. Things go both ways.

Bring 'em back. My thoughts. I won't say any more on the matter.

Agreed.

Tradition of presentation, but also because most any cold drink is going to benefit from being in a metal (copper) mug, as you indicated. No real reason beyond that.
