No, but I do find it somewhat annoying considering that in everyone's lifetime the Sox have been the far more successful team on the field. I have no problem with the Cubs being covered more heavily right now as they obviously have the better team and the one with a postseason chance. Frankly, I would prefer not to hear or read about the current White Sox team at all.

I'm fine with the Cubs being good, as long as they don't win the World Series. That *should* hopefully lead JR to realize how incompetent he really is.

You want the other team in town to win a World Series. May put pressure on your organization to get better.

I didn't mind 2005.

I think many Sox fans hate Cubs fans more than they like their own team.

I agree with this statement. White Sox fandom is confusing at times.

And it seems to be directly related to the Cubs' current level of success. Which isn't even at crazy levels right now.

I can't even imagine how Hatchetman reacts during a Cubs World Series. He may have been the one to issue the bomb threat yesterday.

I do recall dancing around in glee during the Bartman game.

I do prefer the Cubs definitively losing in a painful way to the miniscule chance the White Sox try to improve their roster.

2003 is held in higher regard than 2005 to some Sox fans out there. They won't admit it but the discussions I've had with them tell me otherwise.

There are a lot of great Cubs fans. There are a lot of horrible ones.

That is why you can revel in the wins and revel in the losses.

I never root against the Cubs. I just know they will lose. I knew it in 1984. I knew it in 1989. I knew it in 1998 and 2003 and 2007 and 2008. I'm not really worried about them winning one World Series let alone "multiple championships". I'm more interested in what the narrative will be when the next GM tries once again to do it "the right way".

I cannot recall a time where that wasn't very much the case.

Had this happened to the White Sox, I would've done the same, and probably would still be enjoying it off and on even to right now. That's how it's supposed to be ... love your team primarily, and enjoy the schadenfreude of the other team just a hair less ... which is where Sox fandom generally screws up by reversing the two. I hope, to this day and even unto my (hopefully soon) trip to the grave, that somehow or another someone finds a reason to retroactively award the 2005 WS to the Astros.

Liking both teams is for fruits and jamokes.

Not really. I wasn't surprised when it all fell apart. I think a lot of Cub fans expected it too. Two of them walked out of the bar we were watching it in as soon as Gonzales kicked the ball. They knew. And were you really surprised they lost the last game even with THE GREAT KERRY WOOD on the mound? I remember bernstein repeatedly saying, DON'T WORRY. THEY. HAVE. THE. TWO. BEST. PITCHERS. IN BASEBALL. FOR GAMES SIX AND SEVEN." Of course, he's a White Sox fan.

A friend of mine who was a hardcore Cubs fan sold his ticket to Game 7 for a bunch of money and went across the street to watch at Bernie's. Then he started thinking how much it would suck if they won and he wasn't there even though he knew they would never win. He ended up paying more for a worse ticket than the one he sold to go in and watch them lose. Wait 'til next year. He died last summer. No more next years.

I'll fully admit that I was in 2003 and I enjoyed the failure.

It would have been a world of pain if the Cubs did it before the Sox. They made that obvious. It may have been because I was on a college campus filled with jerseys that still had the price tags on them but they were already acting like the Cubs had broken through and the Sox never would. The only time that was worse was when UofI almost won the title though obviously on campus that was less of an issue.

You can even see it now though obviously they can't say "You'll never win one HAHA". They just say that there is no plan, the Sox will suck for decades while the Cubs make the playoffs every year, and how jealous every Sox fan is. Oh, and bigfan makes some posts about minor league Sox players or something.

I'm a one championship in your lifetime is all that is needed kind of guy though. I won't care if the Bulls or Blackhawks or Sox never win one again. I'd like to see the Cubs, and Bears(too young) get one and then I'm good. I just hope that Kirkwood and IMU are in jail for that month or something.

Bernstein was not alone in that

I started to believe they might win it all in 03. The usual bad things were going the Cubs way etc

I never worried about White Sox championships. I still don't. If anything, it helps the Cubs.

I wish both teams had more success, in general. Chicago deserves two great baseball franchises.

Then maybe I won't hear anymore fucking Bears talk in July.

Bear talk during baseball season when either team is a contender is immediate PTFB radio for me.

I certainly don't believe in curses, but I think every guy who puts on that Cubs uniform is well aware of the history and starts tightening up just waiting for those bad things to happen.

I have never been jealous of the Sox. However, I watch and listen to both teams equally. I actively cheer against the Sox. Why try to pretend I don't? When the Sox lost the other day on a strike out looking, Hawk didn't even say a word, and the station went to break. I gained major satisfaction. I love watching the Royals win those close games against the Sox. I love hearing Farmer and Hawk groan.

I have trouble watching sports in a dispassionate mood. If I don't have an interest in a sport or game, then I don't watch.

In a weird way, I am glad the Sox won in 2005. I was cheering against them at the time, but it was nice seeing my Sox friends' excitement from that victory.
