I think the only reason people use purposefully poor arguments or are intentionally obtuse is to piss people off. It's not as overtly obnoxious and trollish as what people usually associate with trolls, and he's been very successful at it, but IMHO it's still trolling. Unless your goal is to be a tedious, exhausting windbag who gets a kick out of making people sorry they ever engaged in conversation with you in the first place there's really no other reason to do that.

Have we even had a conversation in the past few years? My searches show pretty much nothing.

I went through several phases of BRick "digestion".

Phase 1: Originally he was one of my favorite posters. He never lacks for an opinion, and he seems like a decent enough guy.

Phase 2: After engaging in debates, I realized he is adept at either moving the goal posts or twisting the original argument into something you never intended to talk about. I actively ignored him, definitely did not engage him, and felt hatred towards him in my bones.

Phase 3: I came to my senses. It was probably in the CSFMB CoC chat (I think) where I found a very reasonable human being who can be funny and insightful. He came across much different. Now I read his posts with amusement and enjoy the way he bludgeons even high stamina posters like RPB. The pinnacle is when JORR and BRick go at it. It is like a battle of the Greek gods.


A lesson many could learn from- just enjoy posters for what they bring to the table. In Rick's case, that is quite a bit.
