Five teenagers have been charged and another was fatally shot after an attempted vehicle theft in Lake County, Ill., which led to a high-speed chase into Chicago Tuesday morning, the Lake County Sheriff's Office said.

A 16-year-old male, three 17-year-old males, and an 18-year-old woman, identified as Diamond Davis of Chicago, were charged with first degree murder in connection with the incident. They were charged with murder because a 14-year-old boy died of gunshot wounds sustained during the commission of a forcible felony, the sheriff's office said.

The five appeared in bond court late Tuesday afternoon where a judge set bail at $1 million for each of them. They are due back in court on September 5.

Murder charges dropped.

Good . You hate to see the road to prison fast tracked . Now the 4 young scamps can take their time and enjoy the ride for a few more years before they get there .

It's nuts to ever charge anybody with murder in these circumstances. It's equally nuts to give out EM or Ibonds to shit bags commiting violent crimes as well. Id charge the driver with the most and give his dumb ass 5 years.. Everybody else 2 or 3 years depending on their juvenile record.. This is the last chance, get your shit together or become a shitbird 4 life.

Is it not a big left point to get rid of cash bail now?

Lunatics on the far left and far right, I'd like to see a law passed that it's an automatic 10 year prison sentence if you flee in a vehicle from police.. It's a joke how all these chases are terminated because shitbags are driving 100 mph recklessly.

It’s no worries anyway. The charges were dropped. I’m sure they’ve learned their lesson I will never be a guest of the state again

Yeah

The only one over 18 pled guilty to a felony and another misdemeanor. The other ones were sent to juvenile court after the murder charge was dropped.

The State's Attorney up here is up for reelection next year, and he's trying to pander to the left because they were vocal about how against the murder charges they were. What's amusing is seeing all of his usual supporters now vowing to make sure he's voted out of office because he dropped the murder charge. Lake County can be a weird place sometimes.

I am not a student of Lake County demographics but I am very surprised the masses were not for putting this kids away a long time. For the record I think they should do time.

It was about 50/50. I think they should do time, too...1st degree murder seemed a little much, but I saw no issue with like felony manslaughter.

Well, well, well. Looks like one of the young scamps was so relieved that the murder charges were dropped last year and he was somehow out of jail already from those crimes to commit one of his very own ! Another example of our incredibly biased justice system .

Stupid that we over-react (and without first knowing all the facts. . .) to the tiny, tiny number of police brutality cases instead of shining the spotlight where the REAL problems lie, but maybe Black People just cannot help but to enjoy the attention that the white, racist Liberals are giving them as they hold them up as political bulletproof vests.

I sure hope they wake up and realize that they are being PLAYED, with a Capital "P"!

When you respond to it you're made out to be the problem. Either that or some other racist asshole (or 2) comes along to tell you that it isn't actually a racist statement.

Or he is labeled as a racist because he happens to disagree with you.

Like it’s a binary choice- stop police brutality or stop black on black violence. If people only understood the concept of mutually exclusive and the fact that these two problems are not mutually exclusive. We should work to solve both.

This is true. I also think an education of the public regarding how to respond to police stops and interacting with them is also important. Also the tactics sanctioned for use by police need to be updated across the board.

Yup. Police definitely need deescalation training. If the police build trust and respect, then their interactions with the public will be less confrontational. And there will always be dbags that won’t respect authority.

Hawk, when I was in my early twenties I got pulled over twice and had a cop pull a gun on me. Once, the cop laughed that "he may as well line (me) up and shoot (me)". My crimes, 71 in a 65 interstate zone, and walking in the only lit part of a street to my car with my radio in hand as I walked directly at the cop.

Black parents educate all of their children about police interactions every day. Ask your black friends if you don't believe me. It's tiring.
