Dear Jackass. I'm making a response based on your first statement. The thread is going just fine. Most people with an open mind could really give a fuck about gay marriage. And are fine with Obama saying so. Which group do you fall in? I'm betting it's the closed minded bigot category.

And any time anybody uses the term "flip flopper" about Obama, shots at that poster's candidate of choice Willard are absolutely appropriate.

Now, why don't you go back to incorrectly teaching us that God hates anybody who doesn't share your exact version of Christianity instead of mucking up a shoutout thread for Obama with your usual drivel.

We share 90+ percent with all mammals. Takes a pretty gifted chimp to derive sine and cosine.

What did Twain say about teaching a pig to sing? I can't imagine getting much use out of arguing with cardboard cutouts of how Team Blue and Team Red think.

Easier to sit and say how others are stupid than to actually show some knowledge. Got it. Did they teach that in law school? I think Pointlessly Saying Others Are Dumb was a prerequisite for Dry Fingering 303

The next time you surprise me on a political opinion I'll pay you some attention. Until then, you're just another drone who claps along to MSNBC with a silly grin on his face. Same goes for Chas, substituting Fox, of course. Though your grammar is generally better, so I'll give you that much.

Okay as you asked so politely,

I am against gay marriage but for civil unions for religious purposes.
A civil union and a marriage should be equal in all ways except that marriage is a religious ceremony.
Also, this is a Stats rights issue and also should not be even the hot topic it is because they (States) need to fix it so that Civil unions and marriages are the same in all respects.
It also is not the job of the Federal/State government to tell religious organizations what to do, Obama already pissed off the Catholics with the birth control thing. This is going to piss off more than "Red" states. You know who really do not like the gays? Muslims.

the catholics need to handle the priests abusing children before they worry about two sissies exchanging rings or a womans right to manage her own body.... this changes nothing really as far as votes go.

Why did it take you so long Mr. President? Why were you against equal rights for all consenting adults?

I don't agree with the lifestyle and I struggle with my views on it but I could never be against any consenting adults deciding how they want to live their lives. Seeing a gay couple with wedding bands does absolutely nothing to harm my family. If this is a religious issue then let God judge them like he'll judge all of us for the decisions we've made in our lives.

This isn't courageous IMO. We've all known how the president has truly felt about the issue but he didn't have the political spine to lead from the beginning.

Hova hit a game winning grand slam with this post, IMO.

Ok. Fair enough.

Agreed

Also, this is a Stats rights issue and also should not be even the hot topic it is because they (States) need to fix it so that Civil unions and marriages are the same in all respects.
Ok, but if the man is asked a direct question, shouldn't the leader of the free world be allowed to state his opinion? And if we end up with President Willard come November, he has said (although like all Willard thoughts it's subject to change based on polling) that he supports an amendment to the US Constitution outlawing gay marriage. Will you have this same opinion then?

It also is not the job of the Federal/State government to tell religious organizations what to do,
Agreed. It's called separation of Church and State. But your next statement leads me to believe that you feel it is the job of Religious organizations to tell the Fed/State governments what to do. Is that so? Did you not also start an entire thread based on what you saw in a display that was inside of a private religious building? Are they not free to do what they want?

Obama already pissed off the Catholics with the birth control thing.
No. Obama pissed off the Catholic League. Which is one dipshit and a fax machine that sends out press releases. Even the Vatican doesn't want anything to do with that guy.

This is going to piss off more than "Red" states.
No. Not really.

You know who really do not like the gays? Muslims.
But isn't Obama a Muslim socialist communist balck from Kenya? Why would he say he's ok with the homo sex if he was....oh.... wait.... never mind.

It is his right to take any position he wants. It is protected by the 1st amendment to the Constitution,it also is my right to disagree with his position and that is the beauty of our system. Where else could a mere citizen of our country do so with out the FBI knocking down my door for doing so publicly.
the problem is one of terminology. That one word is what is getting everyone so riled up and it is being done on purpose.
They need to stop calling it marriage and just call it a civil union,if they did that the opposition would have their legs cut out from under them. But no the left has to cause a disturbance and offend people for no good reason other than to try and make a point they do not need to make.

I do not think it will ever pass, too many people have problems with it. It is not a private building, it is open to the public and they have invited any/everyone to come visit it. They even had an open house last weekend. They can say what they want ,1st amendment gain but I am also excising my right to disagree and/or express my opposite view point.

See MNown the difference between you and I is I believe in the documents our founding fathers wrote are pretty cool and should be looked at as beacons of light. I think the main freedom, the one all flow from, Freedom of speech can and should be utilized daily. I can have a discussion with someone with out slinging mud and name calling. You can not because you think only you and people who think like you are entitled to free speech.

In reality, it's probably time to simply decrease the importance of marriage in regards to anything to do with money/taxes/benefits. If you really think about it, it's kind of illogical to give someone extra benefits based on the fact that they found someone else willing to live with them. When I had a roomate, no one cared. When I had a girlfriend, no one cared. However, when I had a ceremony all of a sudden a lot of things changed.

Ummm, FBI operates in other countries. To nitpick I will rephrase that to say the National police.

I missed Irish Boy, welcome back!!

Not going to argue here McNown, but you need to watch what Obama said before you argue about it. Obama said it is a states right issue, same as chas said and you questioned that. Feel free for the two of you to banter mindlessly and endlessly, but please try to have some information before you spout off.

You raise some good points, but let's just call it a gut feeling. Dewskie is grounded. He ain't no knucklehead. He'll do fine. Football season will be a test for him though, definitely.

It's similar to the way you endorsed JORR when he first got here. That turned out to be a good decision.

I post on another message board, and a poster there complained that people label those who fight against gay marriage as "homophobes". Um, isn't that pretty much the definition of a homophobic act?
