I agree and employ this strategy all the time wherever I'm driving--Massachusetts, New York, Rhode Island, etc.

it's the only way to drive long distances. I love it when people truly understand taking turns, and they're with you for long stretches.

Back in the 70s, when the speed limit was dropped to 55mph, we'd be on vacation and a car would fly around us and the old man would say 'now I've got a front door'. He would let the car get about a half mile ahead, then keep up and watch the tailights. Buford T. Justice had nothing on my old man.

When traveling in a pack, I never want to be the last car. That's the one the fuzz will pinch.

Oh, if you can live on the lakefront, go ahead. But that's a world I never inhabited. The Lake Geneva with trailer parks, underfunded schools, and a terrible sense of social claustrophobia, I recommend that one much less.

Went to a wedding at Lake Lawn Lodge in Delavan on Saturday. I guess it was a decent enough resort. Drove though Lake Geneva on the way there.
People just love that place. I hadn't been there since last summer and I only live 25 minutes away. Traffic was nuts.

Hilarious! I stayed there Saturday and Sunday. Not bad, facilities a bit dated but beautiful weather...

Isn't Delavan a pretty polluted lake?

I know it used to get sewage dumped into it, but that was a couple decades ago and it has been "cleaned up" since then.

Still seems dirty, though.

In certain places at the resort, that is exactly what it smelled like. Where we went out on the water, however seemed clean. No beach to speak of so nobody's in the water other than boaters, ski-doos etc.

Wedding was supposed to be outside but got rained in. Yes, it was a bit dated but maybe that is part of the charm? We didn't stay there
so I couldn't comment on the rest. The wedding was nice and the food was very good. Over 200 people at the wedding. My wife and I
were thankful we only had 16 at our reception last weekend. Can't imagine how much the brides dad ( my godfather ) spent on this thing
for his daughter.

After liquor sales start in the morning usually. Feel very Kentucky'ish when I stop there.

yeah, the couple in front of us walking on the side of the lake were like "oh, the algae smells terrible". I'm thinking, that's not algae. Other parts of the lake smelled fine, it was seemingly one section.

T-Bone, what time was the wedding at? I ran into a wedding looking for a comfortable indoor crapper...

The wedding was at 5:15 I believe. Then a 90 minutes cocktail hour and then dinner.

It was really bad like 20 years ago, but they drained the lake to clean it and try to remove a lot of the algae and seaweed (and chiggers!). It was much better after the draining, but I haven't been up there in a long time to see how bad it is now.

A man from Wheeling died after his snowmobile went into Lake Geneva over the weekend, prompting the Department of Natural Resources to issue a warning about thin ice across southern Wisconsin.

Mark Reninger, 53, and a friend, also in his 50s and from Illinois, were traveling west toward the town of Fontana when they hit open water in the middle of the lake south of the Lake Geneva Yacht Club around 9 p.m. Sunday, officials said.

Reninger fell into the water while the other man jumped off his machine and stayed on the ice while calling for help, officials said.

Lake Geneva is out to kill the Illinoisans that have wronged it. I'm clearly next.

I was at Lake Lawn Lodge in Delavan this weekend. It seemed like a nice place but then again it was covered in snow and ice. I was out on the ice for a kite festival. I wonder if they were trying to off me.

I would think snowmobiles going into Lake Geneva is a pretty common occurence.

Geneva Lake, on the other hand...

Snowmobiling at 9:00 PM? What could possibly go wrong?

No serious, Randy Salerno wants to know.
