Not if both teams are juggernauts.

This is a baseball town in a cocoon...waiting to blossom into a beautiful butterfly.

I wish both teams had more success, in general. Chicago deserves two great baseball franchises.

Then maybe I won't hear anymore fucking Bears talk in July.

Dude, just stop. I'm sure you thought they were going to win the World Series in 2007 and 2008. They're not close to that good now. Don't you ever learn? Wait 'til next year.

The 2007 Cubs only won 85 games in a super weak NL Central.

This team is on pace for more wins and they play in the same decision as two of the top 3 teams in MLB.

Had 5 more wins than the phillies in 2008. Did not matter come playoff time.

Why are so many Cubs fans convinced that the team will be dominant "for years to come?"

Does anyone remember 1989?

The Nationals were so sure that they were on the path to continued success, that they rested Strasburg in the playoffs. They haven't even won a playoff series.

They also have had many early draft picks, and tons of money to throw at free agents.

It's the culture. There's always a new wave of hopeful Cubs fans that haven't gotten the shit beaten out of them.

All the fans that jumped on board 2003 are still relatively young. The fans that were around '69 and '80s have a mindset like Peoria Matt where they expect the worse. They've been jerked around quite a bit.

Yeah, thinking about a Braves situation is over the top.

They are certainly set up for a nice run (as a handful of teams always are...Inidans, Brewers, Royals have all been there recently) over the next few years. If you believe they will spend money, maybe even a great run over those years.

Beyond that is nothing you can judge right now.

I hope they do dominate for 15 years though. That would be fantastic.

Bad analogy

The Cubs don't have a 21 year old phenom pitcher , they have a top notch manager n G.M. .. Washington didn't . Maddon is in control , just sit back n enjoy the ride for the next decade .

Cub fans are an optimistic and positive group of folks.

White Sox fans not so much. They seem quite miserable.

no Cubs fan is a bigger skeptic than me. But to achieve 1989, they traded Palmero and Moyer for Williams. They did the opposite of what the Cubs have done.

But they DID have a lot of young talent at that point.

It's actually a very good analogy, when talking about the topic at hand, which was expecting sustained success. But, enjoy the Kool-Aid.

they were "relatively" young team. Compare the two teams and you see just how young this Cubs team is. And trading core young players is what I'm specifically talking about.

Yes, but I can see why someone would say "remember when you had young Maddux, Grace, Walton and Smith coming off 1 and 2 in ROY voting?"

they're so young, their level of youth does inspire some caution rather than predicting the heights. But just look at their ages...21, 25, 25, 23, 23, 22 and before they launched Castillo to make Lester a dubious acquisition, 28. Cogs is the only guy at 30.

Anyone that predicts years of contention should remember Walton. But the Cubs don't have four-five guys who could flame out...they have ten. The depth to replace the flameouts is pretty impressive.

Getting pimp slapped by IMU is not a fun way to spend your afternoon.

Given your use of terrible clichés and grammar issues, I would assume you were chas, but chas has been posting too...and he doesn't seem like the type that could multi-task.

Getting slapped around by IMU and being compared to chas, all in the same afternoon.
