If this gets to the grass roots level, then Rahm's career as a politician will be OVAH.

If it is, so what? Rahm has enough friends in investment banking and venture capital to be set for life. He might welcome it at this point, who knows.

We will all be better for it.

And egos like that don't welcome being taken to the mat by members of the un-annointed class.

Yes, the difference between Chuy and Obama is that Rahm was a king maker for Obama....

Rahm wants to get back to Washington. I doubt he serves out his term if he wins. Likely his dreams of being on the national ticket are dead, but I could see him taking a position in Clinton Deuce's cabinet.

I think he's burned a lot of bridges with his cunty attitude and inability to play well with others. His ability to bring the cash made those things somewhat forgivable, but even then he wore out his welcome in two vastly different administrations. Now the embarrassment of being forced into a run-off by a guy who talks like a character out of Uncle Remus, I would guess mayor of Chicago is his last political stop.

Backing up what I said earlier, that we want to be ruled by kings. We want -- no, need -- our little Napoleon to lead us, not some mere mumbling low-level functionary. Amazing that of all the people who couldn't stand Rahm, they couldn't come up with one who could stand up to him.

Not sure where you wrote that but it's exactly right. That thinking seems more prevalent than ever. The ironic part is many of these people extol the virtues of a monarchy but think they are promoting American values

Right now, the numbers don't look good for Rahm: terrible weather in February vis-a-vis mild weather in April will have kept a lot of poor people from the polls. Fioretti's progressive/reform voters aren't going to turn around and vote for Rahm. Rahm and Chuy will split the black vote depending on how many of them feel obligated to follow Barack Obama's instructions. However, Americans secretly want nothing more than to be ruled over by benevolent kings, and Chuy doesn't seem like a benevolent king to me. Rahm wins this 51.5 to 48.5.

Your guilty conscience may move you to vote Democratic, but deep down you long for a cold-hearted Republican to lower taxes, brutalize criminals, and rule you like a king

Rahm deserves to be kicked out of office just for getting stuck in this run-off. Daley was a blithering idiot who got "scrootened" every day and he was still smart enough to win with 70% every damn time. Rahm walks around like a little martinet with his "Let them eat cake" attitude and has himself in a bad spot. What a fuckin' dummy. I'm starting to doubt that he's Jewish.

A lot of city workers voted against Rahm or didn't vote because they wanted him embarrassed and to waste money on a second round of elections. Most will vote for Rahm the second time around. Especially cops.

Especially white cops. Just another reason not to respect them. All they do is whine constantly about Daley or Rahm but they vote for them every time because even their pure evil and Union-busting is better than a black or Hispanic.

That and police/fire always dodge the worst of the union-busting.

UNIVERSITY VILLAGE — The mayor strongly suggested Wednesday that his re-election was the best bet at winning the proposed Obama Presidential Library.

Asked at a news conference if his losing would prompt President Barack Obama's foundation to move away from a Chicago site, Mayor Rahm Emanuel said, "That's for the foundation to answer, not for me. But I also think leadership counts."

Emanuel said he was "straightforward" in his desire for the library and that he has displayed the "strength that's necessary to resolve issues."

Notify the proper authorities, because this sounds to me like a threat.

Just last week, after advancing to the runoff with Emanuel, Garcia reaffirmed his oft-stated view that the Obama library should not be built in Jackson Park or Washington Park — two finalist locations proposed by the University of Chicago and supported by the mayor.

“Putting it on park land doesn’t sit well with me. It should be in Chicago. I just wouldn’t want to see it in a park. If it’s not on park land, I would advocate for it,” Garcia told the Sun-Times’ Fran Spielman. Garcia mentioned several sites he thought preferable, none of which is even under consideration at this point.

If I had to choose, I'd rather it was Victor Reyes running instead of Chuy.

This whole thing reminds me of making fun of someone on here and then a bunch of posters throw him their support as they dont like seeing the foolish being made fun of...everyone loves an underdog....you just dont want him as your mayor, lawyer, doctor or QB.

Todays bandwagon statement...“It’s time to end the red light rip-off,” Garcia told reporters Thursday at his campaign headquarters on the Near West Side. “No more tickets.”

In December he said he “would keep only those cameras that can be fully proven to have reduced accidents. And those cameras that simply provide the city another way to pick our pockets should be shut down immediately.”

This guy is running for class president with promises of Chocolate milk at lunch, longer recess and no homework!

Which by the way is his formal response on what he plan was for the city budget 'I have to do my homework on that"

Like every other Democrat in Chicago before him.

Why didn't you and CH raise a stink when the pasty politicians did the same thing?

Unlike bigfan, I want Rahm to lose, but I'm getting very disappointed -- and a little scared -- with what a feeble campaign he's running. It's a weird feeling to hope someone derps his way to the finish line as Chuy might do.

The question still stands.

Along with how you never uttered a peep when Pat Quinn did worse to unions then Scott Walker did.

I was living in Wisconsin at the time of Scott Walker's first attack on unions, where he went after people I knew well and grew up with. Walker just hit closer to home for me.
