Sorry Sandy, just trying to make the best of things around here.

The 3rd round pick did put a damper on the good work tho.

I guess we can all be thankful that we are not fans of the Bucs or the Lions. Now that would suck

Why? The Bucs won a Super Bowl way more recently than the Bears.

So, why is it worse to be a Bucs or Lions fan?

I don't know, the Lions still seem pretty rotten, but at least Lions fans don't think their team is just the temporarily embarrassed Packers, which is more than I can say for the locals here.

At least Lions fans realize what their team is. So how many Bears fans don't predict their team is 10-6 at the very least every year?

Erstwhile forum friend of mine bounced around Athens GA, San Antonio, Asheville, and elsewhere in the Southwest/Southeast. Would have to watch Bucs games in sports bars. Once said that without a doubt, the loudest, most inscrutable fans at any given bar were always the Bears fans, who were prone to shouting, groaning, and just making sound at either inopportune times of the game or for no apparent reason at all. Said that the various northeastern transplants were just as loud and dumb, but at least their noises seemed to make sense in context. From what we've seen at Soldier Field over the years with false starts for the home team, I've never even tried to refute the anecdote. Just the thought of it, guys screaming "DAAAA!!! GEEZ!!! URLOCKER!!!" in the middle of, like, a timeout or something still cracks me up.

What is the last year that the Lions won a playoff game?

You keep saying things like this as if they will be true if you repeat it enough (Scorehead vibe). The Bears aren't exactly the Patriots here. The Lions have been better on the field in recent history. They just hired one of Belichick's lieutenants away from the Patriots to run the team, instead of foolishly promoting from within, as they always did. The Bears upper management is about as inept as any in the league, and it looks like they just screwed up another draft, while the Lions look to have drafted well again. If telling yourself that makes you feel better, then by all means, continue. This comes from a Lions fan with two feet firmly on the ground, not one who farts rainbows.

This made me laugh out loud because in 2012 I met a friend in Vegas and we watched the Sunday night Bears-Texans game together at Lagasse Stadium. My friend is a Jewish guy from a prominent Chicago family, attended Francis Parker, not the kind of guy you would expect to be a complete meatball.

Both teams were 7-1 going into the game. I forget what the line was but I thought it was bad. I really thought the Texans were the better team, but the game was at Soldier Field and the Bears were favored. I took the points. The Vegas lines on Chicago teams are often bad because Vegas is like Chicago Southwest.

My friend showed up in a Bears jersey. Looking back I'm surprised he wasn't wearing football pants and cleats. He warned me that he gets crazy during the games. I didn't have the heart to tell him that I bet against The Beloved.

Anyway, during the game he started making noises exactly like you describe. He scared several of the waitresses.

I make noises like that at my son's soccer game. I wear sunglasses so my son doesn't see that my eyes are closed the entire time.

the bears are 8-8, 5-11 and 6-10 in their last 3 seasons. not exactly something to lord over lions fans when the lions have gone 7-9, 11-5, 7-9 in their last 3.

The Lions are meh. I know this. But, the idea that the Bears are a far superior organization is just silly. Matt Millen and Marty Mornhinweg are long gone.

The Lions may be slightly ahead of the Bears in the past 3 years but they haven't won a playoff game since 1991.

Yeah, even the Lions' playoff seasons seemed marred by the team having some total shitlosing. They're probably headed in the right direction now, whereas the Bears can be said to maybe be moving in a direction that isn't necessarily the wrong one. Ultimately, we're just talking about two loser-ass organizations here.

What does 1991 have to do with the state of both organizations today?

I'm still waiting for somebody to make the case that the Bears are far superior, other than the Scorehead-like declarations.

The Bears have finished last two straight years, and haven't won a lot of playoff games lately either. They aren't the Patriots or the Steelers.

The Bears are basically the NFC's Miami Dolphins, an irrelevant mess for longer than most fans can remember but still coasting on that sweet name value and that one great year. The Dolphins went to and won more Super Bowls, though.
