In fairness, it was nice to turn on NFL Live after watching a drunken & surly Coatch Ditker trying unsuccessfully to bully Johnny Morris. But that, and Berman's shtick is now almost 30 years old. Thanks to video, it's easily proven that neither fact has changed. It was funny then, now just go away. And take 3/4s of ESPN with you. |

Rich Eisen referenced this on his show today. They shared an agent when at ESPN, the agent and Berman both told Eisen the rumor is false. Eisen had some vitriol for anyone mongering this rumor from ESPN- saying that Berman earned the right to go out as he wanted, not because someone else said so. I kinda see his point, I am no longer a BigFan, but in his day he was one of the best, and pretty much created the standards for sports television as we see it today. |

wonder if this is a voluntary retirement or if ESPN's continuing to downsize as cable subscription revenues continue to decline. 538's days gotta be numbered. they'll keep em around through the election. After that, I don't see ESPN continuing to support that hobby site when they chopped Grantland and Grantland had actual traffic and readers and paying sponsors. Dude should've stayed at the NYT. |
