As a child, I got too close to a gosling and a mother goose chased me all the way to the back porch of our summer cottage. Stood there at the screen door, pecking away, daring me to get back out there and accept my ass-kicking. Traumatic all around. Fuck geese.

That picture doesn't really portray it well, but he has the same fucking jaw as Slaughter and the same little cookie duster mustache. If I put him in that hat and glasses you might not be able to tell them apart.

Also, does anyone remember a guy who called himself Sgt. Slaughter who used to come around to bars in the city selling meat and beef jerky and stuff? He wore an army uniform.

Oddly enough I think I do. For some reason I was in some Irish bar on Broadway(late 80's early 90's) and remember this guy coming in and holding court on the end of the bar. Everybody knew him & he was loud as hell talking about being off work, but never really off work.

They weren't a nuisance til a decade or so ago, our winters are so mild and there is lots of open water so they stopped migrating south..you needed a federal permit to hunt them..not sure if that is still so but the population is way out of control.

And I can certainly understand your childhood run-in, Curious. I've seen 100+ pound rottweilers cower from geese.

I also once saw a stupid fuck throw a piece of bread out on a fishing pole/hook and catch a goose and try to fly it like a kite. He thought it was funny until the goose flew back and beat the shit out of him.

I'll defer to your coyote street cred... but I grew up with them all over, too. A lone 30 lb coyote would be real hungry to fuck with a pissed off goose. It might get the job done, but it's risking injury. More likely, there's a few of them.
