I used to hear that narrative 5-10 years ago, but that's all it is, a narrative. Still waiting to hear or see a link with someone on the tour actually saying that.

Eye test and the interviews I've seen show me that he's one of the most popular players on tour and a mentor for many of the up and coming young stars in the game.
