Crazy as a shithouse rat, but he stuck to his guns and didn't put Trump over.

Unlike Bernie.

Both men will wait 4 years or so to become relevant again.

I don't even understand how people can be mad at him. Trump called his wife ugly and said his dad murdered JFK. Cruz is supposed to turn around and endorse him like a bitch? That sounds like something dolphin would propose.

Only argument is that he should have just declined to speak.

Well at least he has something in common with Woody Harrelson.

The only good thing about Trump is that he saved us from Ted Cruz.

The whole Convention has been a shit show filled with controversy. But this follows the entire Trump campaign, and the one thing it does is give Trump 24/7 free publicity. CNBC spent half of Squawk Box airtime on Trump this morning. And that's a business program.

The types of folks that are going to vote for Trump probably don't care about any of the controversies like his wife's plagiarized speech.

No, of course not. The only people who care about the plagiarized speech are journalists getting all cunty because they couldn't get away with that in grad school but she's there and they're here.

Aren't a majority of white men Trump supporters? You make it sound as though his base is some kind of fringe group.

Well, to say her speech (making the assertion that the entire speech was "plagerized") would be false to begin with so whatever we are just riffing and rapping at the moment.

The Trump supporters that I know aren't watching PBS, CNBC, CNN or reading the Wall Street Journal to even have a sense as to what is being said at the convention. Our entire office (mainly college grads) are near universally Republican leaning and none are voting for Trump. My family (only one other college grad) is voting for Trump excitedly, and the two of us with degrees are not.

I know that's a small sample size of maybe 50 folks. Yes, all white, but inclusive of females. I am just making comments based on my personal experience and what I see and hear through the media.

In the end, the hatred of Hillary may drive a lot of folks to vote Trump. If you take the polls at their word, Trump has low 40% support, so you can't call his support fringe.

Good question. I don't think her controversies change the perception of her among the general populace. They are mainly fodder to rile up the hard right. Her problem is that the majority of the public view her in a negative light (Trump has the exact same issue).

Even as a person who would never vote for a Democrat, I don't understand the hatred of her. But I have had many heated arguments with family members who accuse me of being a Liberal. I had an Aunt scream at me that voting Libertarian will help elect a murderer (I assume a Benghazi reference).

Ultimately, I want what's best for this country. I think Hillary is a safer bet than Trump, so I kind of hope she wins. But I still have to vote based on my political leanings for who I think the best candidate is, and that happens to be a Libertarian. I did that once before when McCain ran.

True...Hillary is hated, she's a deceitful Caller Bob..but Trump is hated almost as much..I'm voting Jill Stein..I think Hillary wins handily and voter turnout is pretty low.

Low voter turnout has always favored Republicans. It's the primary reason why they try to suppress the votes.

Nas is right that low turnout generally favors Republicans. Look at the last two off cycle elections (2010 and 2014) and the impact on the House of Representatives and the take over by Republicans of many state legislatures. The reason is that Republican voter demographic (older, whiter) are more reliable, while independent, minority and swing voters tend to come from the Democratic base. For instance, Hispanics turn out in low numbers.

In this election all bets are off because Trump puts off many traditional Republican voters. They may be so turned off as to just stay home.

Considering that during the primaries, the polls always under-predicted for Trump and over predicted for Hillary (Bernie kept winning when he wasn't supposed to) the statistical dead heat that Trump and Hillary appear to be in should make hrc17@ as nervous as Huma Abedin during Anthony Weiner's college speaking tour.

I agree with Michael Moore and Ray Fair and Alan Abramowitz -- 2016 is a non-incumbent-party year; just like 2008 was; just like 2000 turned out to be. hrc17@ is about the worst candidate to run out there in the current political climate. President Elizabeth Warren would've been better. Dems want/wanted change as badly as the Repugs appear to. Hence Bernie dogging Hillary every step of the way in the primaries.

It appears that there is no clear trend in presidential elections.

This election will come down to the viability of 3rd party candidates. Head to Head I don't think Trump gets over 45%. If third party candidates can peel away some of the anti Hillary vote Trump will have a chance. Otherwise he has no chance.

NBC poll has Trump up by 1 when the 3rd party candidates are included.

But that's a national poll, right? That's not necessarily reliable due to the electoral college. We need to keep our eyes on battleground states like Ohio, Florida, Wisconsin, North Carolina, and Virginia-- all of which have implemented voting restrictions that will likely suppress participation among key Democratic constituencies more than Republican turnout. If Trump wins those states, he takes the election.
