You really have my admiration you old crazy commie!

You probably could have had those nuts who were crying for you like teenagers at a Beatles concert burn Philadelphia down last night. Instead you showed yourself as a statesman with a clear focus on the bigger issues.

Bravo

He set up his supporters to do this though by not accepting his loss and instead promising to fight as far as wanting a contested convention.

It would be like if Trump came out and said "I want my supporters to start to love and support immigrants".

Bernie Sanders isn't the movement. He was just a tool for the movement. And now he has betrayed that movement. But it's not really unexpected, is it?

Sanders was not the movement.

I don't think it's entirely fair to call him a fraud or a typical politician for doing what he did. I completely disagree with what he did, but I can't rule out that he genuinely believes that stopping a Trump presidency is more important than "the movement" for the time being. I do, however, disagree with him if that is his conclusion.

He knew Trump was going to be the nominee at the time he was threatening to try and have a contested convention though.

The "Trump is too dangerous" stuff is just an excuse.

I think he is thinking about more than beating Trump. He sees a chance to have a voice in an administration that has a very good chance of winning.

I agree that he's planning on having a voice and looking at this in a bigger picture. I just don't believe he'll actually get that voice. Hill will win and the people with the deep pockets that put her there will have the voice.

His movement should never have initiated within the ranks of the Democratic establishment. He would have had more credibility as an over thrower if he had remained an independent. Even in defeat he would have attained much more with respect to sustainability. If Hillary is elected the Democratic Party will largely muzzle progressivism. Some of Bernie's ideas are way out. Very few within the party will fight for that.

If you are truly a "revolutionary" shouldn't that sort of be the goal?

but not young, young women

Maybe PBS coverage was different but it looked to me like a lot of late twenties. I heard some Indiana woman on NPR babbling about Bernie and she was an older lawyer.

It seemed like it was almost entirely women. Maybe they are just more gullible to fantasy.

in fairness, weren't some of those "bernouts" burning israeli flags last night? you don't see that very often.

who's this "jill stein" who seems to be their fallback candidate in a post-bernie/anyone-but-hillary-or-trump world?

You have to admit that it's funny for guys like you and Rick to explain why the movement is pointless. It's not your movement. You don't lose with the status quo. I doubt there are many lawyers and doctors in Sauganash fomenting revolution.

There was a big thread about how Bill Clinton ruined a lot of things in the name of progress in the 90s. Change for change sake isn't necessarily good.

What movement? it turns out, there is no movement...it was all hot air. He lost and is directing his "movement" to go along with the system that's been destroying the US for years.
