Per Meatpants retweet, pretty good one (if true) - @darenw: Since 2008 the @cubs have thrown 12 pitches 100 MPH+... Aroldis Chapman threw 13 in his first outing |

I assume majority of those were Rondon? Who else did Cubs have that threw gas? |

No. And I don't think Marmol did either. I think Zambrano must have a couple of times...at the end of a start when he was heated and just chucking. Guzman? Cashner? Yeah RFDC...Ramirez was a possibility. And Grimm. |

No, honestly. I mean...we've seen a lot of fastballs. I'd think, even on TV, I have a pretty decent handle on guessing velocity. Not saying I'm accurate all the time...and maybe it has to do with his frame and his ease of delivery...but I'd say high 90's. |

He's not as tall but he reminds me of a lefty JR Richard. Good extension and easy delivery of serious heat. |

I read something a while ago that stated there is a difference between the speed readings of today, which are measured off the release, and the apparatus that clocked Nolan Ryan at 100.89, which measured the speed when the ball crossed the plate. It was supposedly a 5-10 mph difference. I wonder if that's been supported or not...hard to imagine Ryan would be at 105-110 if measured today, but who knows. |

don't they have advance metrics now that captures the speed of the ball leavin the bat vs in the air vs crossing the outfield fence? Should be able to give readings for right after release vs crossing the plate vs being jacked into the seats. |

I think that Ryan clocking is still in the Guinness Book for whatever that's worth. The team can put whatever number they want on the scoreboard to get the crowd crazy. I've seen 103 for Robb Nen too. IMU is likely correct. But what difference does it make? All you need to know is that S.O.B. throws hard as fuck. |
