I know several Filipinos and they all whole-heartedly support Duterte. Apparently, drug dealers, drug gangs, and drug addicts run rampant all over the Philippines to a point where the ordinary citizens are living in fear of their safety.

Since Duterte took over, that has apparently changed. People feel much safer. People involved in the drug trade were given an ultimatum - turn yourselves in or we will hunt you down. Most of them have turned themselves in (60,000). The others have been killed.

Sounds crazy hear in the US, but apparently he has a large majority support in his country from his people.

the drug problem in the Philippines isn't weed (which it's insanely stupid that marijuana is illegal anywhere) but the same problem that
was ravishing middle-america (outside the cities) last decade: meth. Yaba or Shabu in the Philippine iteration. Very potent and relatively inexpensive.





Seems like heroin/opiates have displaced meth as the drug scourge in the hinterlands of the USA these days.
