He not running for president and he refuses to insert himself into the Cubs' championship celebration. Bartman was the scapegoat for a Cubs' team that blew a 3-1 lead. But Bartman generally refuses any attention whether it's an interview or a book deal. There are few people in this world that could be that famous and never want to cash in or get some attention for themselves. I know Ricketts does a lot of nice things for the fans and such, but Bartman deserves some sort of an apology from the Cubs and perhaps some signed memorabilia or complementary tickets. |

Steve Bartman doesn't get the last 13 years back, and the fact that Cubs fans have waited until now to forgive to guy is fucking pathetic. You want to do what's best for him now after you've selfishly gotten what you think he "stole"? Forget his name, forget he ever existed. But that wont happen because Cubs fans have decided their forgiveness of him is yet another reason for self-congratulations. |

I've never met a Cubs fan or really read one here that blames him. Most know they'd have reached for it. I blame baker. Other blame gonzales. Only a couple Jerks truly gave bartman shit. You're just a jerk looking desperately for a way to poke at Cubs fans. You're a much worse person than any Cubs fan who blames bartman. After all, you're the real thief. Nobody stole anything from the 03 Cubs. |

A lot of people do blame Bartman. And really, a more aware fan would have given his player room. But he wasn't the only one reaching, so it probably would have just been someone else. And I doubt Alou was gonna catch the ball anyway. But while some people may think the way Bartman handled it is "classy", it's also perpetuating his situation. If he had gone on Letterman and/or Leno, exploited the situation for money, or just went out and said, "Fuck you, most of you would have done the same thing and some of you actually did", people would have quickly grown tired of it and he would have faded into oblivion, just a footnote in that game. But by going underground he has turned himself into this thing, like a J.D. Salinger of Cub bad luck. |

Bartman doesn't deserve an apology, he fucked up..he's a nerd and if his dumb ass was paying attention and took off those gay head phones he'd have realized he should get out of the way not box out Alou on an important out. I put most of the blame on Alex Gonzalez, he botched a routine DP and he was on that team for his glove, he couldn't hit. I blame Baker for not going out there and telling his boys to relax n let em regroup, but Bartman is a fucking idiot. |

Putting your arms up/reaching for a ball is a natural reaction. In fact I recall either game 6 or 7 a fox sound guy reaching for a foul ball that a player (I think Rizzo) was trying to make a play on. Of course Buck didn't call it out and if you blinked you missed it. |

That guys an idiot though. But if you read what he wrote.... He based Gonzalez and baker. |

Cubs should have a promotion where they have Bartman come back and he murders Jim Cuthbert, Teinowitz, and the douchebag who tried to get at him when the cops were walking him out. |

I'd settle for a dunk tank stunt with 312 Player on the platform. Give Steve three chances to dunk 312 into a Wrigley trough full of game day urine. If he fails, then 312 can punch him in the face and rub poison ivy on his balls. All procced go to charity. |

I didn't make that connection because Russell had to range far, while Gonzalez had a tailor made grounder. |

Do one interview at least and talk about how bad you feel and how much you love the Cubs and it mostly goes away. It would still be mentioned every so often. We don't even know if Bartman actually enjoys being famous for this. Bill Buckner lived a pretty normal life.

Sure there were some knuckle heads that made death threats but that's less than a dozen people out of a fan base in the millions. Should Sox fans apologize to that ump or 3rd base coach over 2 hillbillies? |

Darko.....you may not have blamed him, but he was blamed publicly by members of the Club the media, and yes....many fans. shit...people dressed as him for Halloween and the replays were run for years. The guy worked locally at Hewitt in Lincolnshire....he was hounded and threatened for MONTHS afterwards. His life was flat out ruined. Joe Orr Road Rod wrote: But by going underground he has turned himself into this thing, like a J.D. Salinger of Cub bad luck. I don't agree here. How was he supposed to handle it? Fading into nothingness was his best option when all of his options sucked. The biggest crime here is the Cubs should have done more to squash this in 2003 and DIDN'T DO SHIT. Same with the media. They all ran with it. |

His life wasn't ruined at all, he had to change his phone number. He still lives and works in the area. He has turned down multiple chances at cashing in on it, if his life was really ruined he would have taken all the cash pushed his way. |

If he would've come out years ago and been like fuck you, go yell at that asshole shortstop who let the ball go through his legs you fucking morons..this whole thing would've been over and no one would've given him a hard time ever again. |
