Gotta love the Sox fans hypocrisy shining today. It's ok when the Sox don't even try to field a competitive team for multiple seasons but when the Cubs did it it was a disgrace to baseball. Yes, I'm mainly looking at you good dolphin. |

If anyone can do it that's a great offer. |

I don't like tanking and I especially will never applaud tanking multiple seasons in a row before they even happen. MANY Sox fans agreed with this two years ago. Now they are looking like a bunch of clowns today. |

Theo has pretty much ruined baseball when a team that does it the right way like the White Sox has to submit to it.

You're a huge Bernstein guy and still don't get market inefficiencies? Not to mention it's just a cowardly thing to do. Rick Hahn has done an objectively awful job since he's been in charge, and now he just bought himself another four years. Shameful. |

Are you liking what you are seeing? The three top people the Sox traded for this year all spent time on MLB rosters in 2016. They will most likely do the same in 2017 and beyond. They aren't playing for five years down the line. I do agree that tanking even one season is abhorrent to competitive sports. Let's see how this plays out. |

I don't really like what I'm seeing but people that know more than I do say I should be so ill accept that for now. It's annoying to me that o basically have to spend next summer not watching sports though, as I don't care enough to watch other teams play and there will be nobody on the Sox worth watching. |

Now they are looking like a bunch of clowns today. I'm a lifelong Sox guy. The last time they had any sort of sustained success this is how they did it. I was all for what Kenny Williams did when he took over. He infamously said that they weren't going to be "prospects are us". They won a Series doing it that way but it is obvious that their piecemeal approach to running the team is a failure. Retread after retread hoping that they have just a little bit left in the tank is not cutting it. Blow it up and see what you have in 3 years. By then you will know if any of the guys are worth anything. If they aren't you werent going to win anyway. Throwing money at it by overpaying for free agents is not going to cut it either. |

Too bad I can't say the same about you. @ BRick and LTG Like LTG, I agree with the tanking strategy and called for it several years ago. The only problem is that I have no idea if Hahn is capable of carrying it out or not. On this matter, I subscribe to the conventional sports wisdom that it is easy to ascend from terrible to good, but extremely difficult to ascend from good to great. And even if we accept the premise that Hahn is capable of leading the Sox to greatness, do we have any confidence that JR is willing to allocate the resources necessary to elevate the team? Theo is a premier talent evaluator and organizational architect, but he might not have succeeded without the significant investments the Ricketts have made in talent development. Hahn obviously has nothing like Theo's track record, and while Reinsdorf has recently supported upgrades in talent development, the Sox still seem a long way off from the Cubs (in organizational investment, organizational vision, and in implementing an organizational vision). Hahn has made some good initial moves, but there are some significant variables at work here. |
