I am so ready for it. Mediocre football and January basketball are killing me. Souless.

Time for the greatest game known to man, even including the Cubbies.

The next time this comes up, I want to be in the DR, Miami or Cuba watching this.

I've been in the south for rivalry football games, one of the few things better is watching baseball around a rainbow coalition crowd. Everyone walks away happily respecting everyone who gives maximum effort. And the flavor :D

Yea, the atmosphere looks awesome.

I read a rumor a couple of months back that this will be the last WBC unless ratings improve drastically

I haven't paid any attention to this but this USA vs Dominican Republic game is really good. Robertson was warming up so that could soon change

Yeah.

Would that take the place of the gold prospecting trip?

Marlins Park is absolutely shaking with deafening noise as Wellington Castillo greets David Robertson with a double to the LF wall. 5-3

Looks like Robertson is in mid season form.

An Irish friend of mine is from New York. He's a huge Yankees fan and a big Japanophile. He's an artist who sells a lot of work in Japan. He was telling me that the experience of seeing a baseball game in Japan is just unbelievable.

Daggum it! Wife and and I are working on completing the World Major Marathons. But it seems like Tokyo does not line up with their baseball season and I am not sure how many 13 hour plane rides I have in me.

ps what relevance does the Irish heritage of your NY friend have on the relevance of him being a Japan-fan? Just curious?

Quote:
Tokyo Marathon—Tokyo, Japan. The marathon takes place in late February and joined the World Marathon Majors in 2013 as the sixth race.
Boston Marathon—Boston, USA. One of the five original marathons included in the series, the marathon takes place on the regional holiday Patriots' Day, i.e., the third Monday in April.
London Marathon—London, UK. The London Marathon takes place annually in late April and is one of the five founding marathons for the World Marathon Majors in 2006.
Berlin Marathon—Berlin, Germany. The race occurs in late September, and is one of the five founding marathons to begin the World Marathon Majors in 2006.
Chicago Marathon—Chicago, USA. As one of the five marathons to join at the time the World Marathon Majors was founded, the Chicago Marathon takes place annually in early October.
New York City Marathon—New York City, USA. The NYC Marathon occurs on the first Sunday in November. It was originally a part of the World Marathon Majors founding group, and has participated since the start in 2006. In 2012, the NYC Marathon was cancelled in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.[6] and was not an active part of the World Marathon Majors for the year 2012.

A whole lot of drum work and crowd participation with the Japanese crowds.

And that's just for regular season games.

I guess I was just describing him. He's one of those real Irish-Americans. His parents are both from the Old Country. He grew up in Alphabet City in the 70s and 80s. I'm not sure what fuels his fascination with Asian culture. He loves Japan and he loves Filipina girls.

Couldn't stay up to watch the finish, but see the Dominican team went down last night.

Yelich didn't seem to have a good read on the ball

I've been unwilling to even watch more tv after last night's great game.

Who knew that a crowd in San Diego could get raucous and look like they were actually having a ball?

They were definitely into it. Ironically I will be in the DR next week and San Diego in May.
