He kept the Bulls from getting Melo and he saved the Bulls fans from a final year of Derrick Rose.

I've always said Jerry Krause was more important to the Bulls titles than Phil Jackson. I've said it on this board. Said it while he was winning the titles before I was on this board.

I've always thought Phil is really was an idiot. I remember him in interviews when he was the Bulls coach. He's one of those guy that tries to sound smart and clever, but ends up sounding like an idiot. To me, at least. I've always thought he was a dumb ass. But when he was winning titles people made the mistake of thinking he was smart. I never did.

But hey, he made his 100 million in his career fooling everybody. Not me, though.

Krause put the players around Jordan. But he didn't draft Jordan. Getting a player like that has to fall into your lap as it did with the Bulls picking 3rd for Jordan. Krause didn't do so well after the 1998 season. I think the NBA has to be one of the harder leagues to scout as so many players become busts.

Jackson was an excellent coach - particularly for those teams in that era. He showed it again with the Lakers who were close but couldn't get over the top until he came. He appears to be a lousy GM but that doesn't have anything to do with his coaching abilities.

You're being too kind on BD. Jackson has 11 rings as coach. He coached two different Bulls teams to three rings each, and two different Lakers teams to five rings. The only person getting fooled here is BD by fooling himself into thinking he's got a valid "point" about PJ.
