An entire solar system similar to ours. Within the next decade we'll be able to determine whether there is life on the planets. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/nasa-announcement-today-trappist-1-alien-life-solar-system-latest-live-exoplanet-a7593941.html Conspiracy guy says: "This means they've already found..." |

The baby boomers put a man on the moon in 1969. The subsequent generations have shit themselves even formulating a rational plan to send a man to Mars. |

Nobody is suggesting less than light speed travel to these planets. I think it's assumed that we would have to bend space time, what is more realistic, us bending space time or terafoaming mars? |

What's to be excited about? Mars should be what we are focusing all NASA $$ and energy towards. That's a planet we can reach. Let's fucking explore space! This is just some nerds analyzing data and getting a boner about something that isn't tangible. |

While "we" are really good at heating up planets, best case scenario has it taking at least 100 years to build an atmosphere on Mars. That includes redirecting a few asteroids at it and burning carbons on that planet. I think it's 50/50 whether that would be quicker, or finally figuring out this time/space continuum thing. |

Perhaps you would be more excited if those planets are inhabited by life forms capable of traveling to earth. |
