Well that's a bunch of gibberish. I am a fan of pair trading based on relative value although I have never tried to implement that strategy. In such a scenario, you take two companies that are in near identical businesses, say Home Depot vs Lowes or Wal-Mart vs Target. You look at the relative value between each. You go long on the cheaper stock and short on the overvalued stock. In that manner, you are completely agnostic as to the overall market up and downs and simply concerned with the relative movement of two companies. So right now a good pair trade would be long on Ford and short on GM as an example. |
