When Madigan and corrupt politicians have made your vote useless, might as well vote with the only tool you have left, your feet. These people deserve a shoutout for saying enough is enough.

Illinois as a whole lost 37,000 people (whereas most states are gaining population)

The White Sox fanbase continues to shrink.

Sad.

The original plan was to move out of state once the kids are in college.

That might change.

Fuck Illinois.

I really enjoy certain parts of IL, but I don't think I could ever raise a family there with the generational corruption which has financially destroyed the state.

We are looking at Colorado, but the real estate there is fairly high.

and yet Schaumburg continues to grow

It really is a strange story. If you look at the board it seems pretty universal that Illinois is screwed and not run right. I imagine that has to extrapolate out to the population to some degree. Yet the voters seem to not want to or not be able to change a thing.

I'd be great if we could just throw the libtards out.

If the voters wanted to change it, what could they even do? Madigan has gerrymandered all of the state's districts so that his party never loses.

Kass calls the state Madiganistan for a reason

Same. Only three years away now from college. We've started scoping out land to build our "retirement home".

And Schaumburg is actually shrinking (really stagnating. They lost about 1,000 residents between 2000 and 2010.

Hmm. Maybe we could institute an estate tax for people that leave the state. Not fair that other states are getting that money. What did they do to deserve it?

Good riddance. Go build the soulless dream home in dallas/atlanta/charlotte/scottsdale wastelands. Ask for Pulte when doing so. Great customer reviews.

Has anyone mentioned moving to any of those places?

basically people are moving to any place that is not Illinois. Indiana seems like an improvement next to it, and that's saying something awful about the State of Illinois.

I know brother. This exodus has been going on for a few years now. Wisconsin, Iowa, and Indiana have gained MANY former IL residents recently.

I've said this several times, we are staying in the Midwest. We hate warm weather for 365 days a year. We will be moving north, MI, WI, or MN. We are going to spec out our own home.

But for anyone in the market for a suburban home, Pulte is great. They have excellent end to end customer service, and it is the best built home I have ever owned. Next to zero problems in my 13 years of ownership. I get tons of compliments on the design too.

To Mike's point, and this won't be a popular take...but here we go...the problem with Illinois politics is the minority voter. They vote lockstep for Madigan and his chronies. But let me ask you this folks..What has the Democratic machine done for the black voter in Illinois? Outside of a consistent track record at keeping them at the "status quo"?

I would kind of agree with you here. Yes the minority voter does vote democratic predominantly, but what does the republican candidate do for the voters of color?

Furthermore, you are underestimating the suburbs voting democrat as well. Jesus even out in DeKalb county the democrats run shit.

Well to start, lower income and property taxes would help the AA community

This is just based on my casual observations (I have friends that live in Texas), but the middle class, and the black community does much better in Texas. Low taxes, business friendly climate, the only thing that is starting to creep up are property taxes there

But if I'm not mistaken the property taxes in TX are still laughably low compared to IL.

This is true of almost any place outside of New Jersey, which has high property taxes as most of its higher earning citizens pay state income tax to NY or PA

I wouldn't say that..say you paid 10K in Naperiville, you would pay half that on a similar home in Texas, last I checked. Tennessee has basically no property taxes, but the wages (my field at least) aren't as good as Texas.
