I didn't realize that they did this every month (3rd Saturday, 9-noon). Just unloaded a couple of old minitowers and a couple of really old ink-jet printers. They do charge a little ($15-$25) for anything with a screen. The guy in front of me had a 150 pound 40 inch mid-2000s CRT TV, so he had to pay $30. It's set up in the Metra station parking lot, incredibly easy. |

Goodwill takes that stuff for free any day of the week, even gives us a tax rebate. |

I don't think Goodwill takes tube TV's anymore. |

In Madison we have to pay $50 for any screen. Even if it's lcd. Even worse is led lcd. There isn't anything more dangerous in those than a toaster oven . F that. Just smash the thing up into bits and put it in your trash can. |

DLP televisions? That's surprising. Maybe because of the pricey bulb replacement. |

Nomination denied. Seriously, if you've ever seen office space how could you possibly dispose of electronics any other way than the way Mike judge taught you how to do it (with a proper rap soundtrack and the whole 9 yards)?? btw no matter how horrible my now-actually-sooner-than-later rapping endeavors go I promise you I will NEVER start a verse off with "BACK UP IN YO ASS WITH THE RESURRECTION" #WordIsBond =] |

My theory is that the price of scrap metal combined with the state probably not paying people may have led to the demise of the free recycling programs. People who didn't get rid of their old TVs for free when they had the chance missed the boat. |
