Fire and Passion https://www.dnainfo.com/chicago/20170804/canaryville/canaryville-little-league-fight-brawl-children-parents-video-live-leak CANARYVILLE — Little League and local officials are condemning a "major, major" brawl outside a Canaryville youth baseball park this week that was caught on video. Around 50 adults were involved in the confrontation outside the Canaryville Little League ballpark, 455 W. 45th Place, after a playoff game around 6:30 p.m. Monday, police said. A 30-minute video of the incident shows a fraction of the crowd fighting, though at least one man used a bat to attack someone. The fight lasted a few minutes, and police arrived shortly after, the video shows. Groups continued to yell at each other, at which point someone off screen yells: "Stop. Who needs an ambulance?" No arrests were made, as officers "were unable to determine who the aggressor was," a police spokesman said. The investigation is ongoing, police said. The incident was a continuation of an argument between parties that began at a game Friday night, said 11th Ward Ald. Patrick D. Thompson, who described it as a "major, major fight." A security plan is being implemented around the ballpark, Thompson said. In a statement, league officials said the parties involved in the fight have been banned from the facility and future league participation. They also said in the statement that security cameras will be installed around the facility, and that they are working with police to ensure "this rare incident does not take away the positive impact that our wonderful Little League has played here in Chicago." "Although this event took place outside the fences of the Little League Ballpark and could happen anywhere, we simply do not tolerate people who do not know how to act in front of children at the Canaryville Little League," the statement said. There are only a few games left in the season, officials said, depending on how the championship series play out. A police squad car was at some of Wednesday's nights games, as was Thompson, who said he went to "reassure everyone" that a security plan would be in place. The ballpark is a community staple that has undergone tremendous renovations recently, and currently is building a concession stand and press box. |

My nephew's travel team was up here a couple weekends back, and it was ridiculous. I haven't been around high school sports since I was playing, and it's gotten way worse. The women are worse than the men! |

Yep, the moms are the most fired up. Once in each of the last 2 seasons I've had a mom suggest we walk off the field because ump was biased. This year was a playoff game. |

It is true the women are worse than the men in how they are. When I played there When I was in the finals one year I hit a ball off the fence and it spilled a ladys drink on her she went after my mom. I am glad I am not living there any more and will be extremely glad once my mother finally moves out this year. |

Fuckin' Awesome. I would have paid good money to watch these dumbfucks fight each other. The person filming (vertically of course) makes repeated reference to motherfuckers from 18th street. What does that mean? He or she seemed to imply that they either left and came back or were called in as reinforcement. |

As long as it's not my team, I very much enjoy it. |

Wrestling parents are the worst. They require more security than any other sport when it is a major competition. We had to kick the dad of highly successful wrestler out of a team sectional because he lost his shit that the score board operator took an extra 5 seconds to put a point up for a match his kid was losing 8-1. |

My wife and I have been coaching our daughters teams for years. Dealing with the idiot parents is far and away the worst part of the whole experience. Thankfully it looks as this season will be our last(said that before). Funny thing is that it is usually the drop and run parents who are generally the biggest idiots in the stands. |

But seriously, I assume 18th street is some sort of racial boundary? Though I thought it was hispanic. Re: the guy with the tank top tucked into his acid-washed jeans and the the guy who picked up the child's bat and snuck around & suckered popped the guy who was already fighting with somebody else--I suspect they've been unusually angry lately with all the fake news going on around President Trump. Fuckin' liberal media. |
