Currently on the floor of the Senate demanding that debate be opened on rescinding the seemingly perpetual AUMF. http://rare.us/rare-politics/issues/for ... ary-force/ Quote: Tonight I sit silently to protest the thousands of American soldiers who have died over the past decade in these wars. We have been there for 16 years. It is time for them to end. It is time for Congress to vote on whether or not they should end. The Senate is now in a quorum call, unable to act because of my protest. This is why I sit on the floor, in silent protest. I will continue this protest and these objections for as long as needed to ensure Congress do its duty, and vote on ending these wars. He is the only person in the Senate who is worth a damn. |

From Rand Paul: We won a major victory - with your help. Now I need it again right away! The first vote in 15 years on ending the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan takes place TODAY in the US Senate Please call your Senators and tell them to support my amendment at 202-224-3121 right away Urge them to support my amendment repealing the Authorization for use of Force in Iraq and Afghanistan. These wars have gone on too long - over - 16 years. We should not bind another generation to a war started so long ago. Trillions of dollars and many lives have been lost. It's time to end. Please call 202-224-3121 right away |

That's a nice sentiment and all but, for chrissakes, learn how to write properly. |

Agreed nah, he took some real stands against the Patriot Act renewal, which led to some changes in it. he has also pushed against the DoJ and DoD on the drone program and the legality of it. He has taken some real principled stands. Far more than the other 534 cocksuckers on the hill. |

Rand is to the GOP what Bernie is to the DEMs. He's too much of a pussy to flat out run as a Liberatarian, but likes to selectively play one. Like Bernie, he also tries to sell himself as not "really a traditional republican" but is a republican. If Rand really wanted to be POTUS, he certainly didn't act like it in the last primary. He stood back like a passenger. I do agree with a lot of what he says, but I still sense a fraud. |

why would he want to be president? being president today just sounds awful. i assume his life is way easier than it would be if he were president. i truly think you have to be a lunatic egomaniac to want to be president. |

He never supported legalized segregation. He simply believes that market forces alone can force companies to fight racism rather than government intervention. I'd say there is truth to that, just look no further at web hosting companies pulling domains for Nazi sites or Amazon removing Confederate Flag listings. It should be noted that the segregation in the south was mandated by legal code (Jim Crow laws) in those states, thus it was government, not the private sector forcing segregation. |

This is the single most important point in this discussion. Rand Paul's stance isn't some whacky one. |
