I haven't purchased a console in years but always get a hearty chuckle at the Sony and Microsoft diehards predicting doom and gloom for Nintendo unless they get out of the hardware business entirely and start producing multiplatform games.
Yup. Always seemed like wishful thinking.
They are always one up on Sony and Microsoft. They are masters of marketing to what kids want to play. Not just the branding of Mario and Zelda, but the design of the Nintendo Switch was brilliant. Todays kids don't want to be stuck in front of a TV. They want mobility and Nintendo delivered with the design of the switch. Besides the games being the size of a Nickel (how many parents will be repurchasing MarioKart because little Juiced lost the microscopic game card in the backseat of the SUV?), it is perfect for the kids to take it "to grandma's" or outside on a bench.
Truth be told, I wanted a Playstation and thought about getting little juiced to want to play on one, but I had no real argument for her to choose the PS over the Switch, other then the 3-D option that cost another couple hundred dollars on top of the price of the PS. In the end, Mario always wins!
(Princess is SONY and Microsoft)
