Horrible way to start the playoffs. I hate to say it but this was not a good performance by the crew. Teams and fans deserve better.

It does not matter that Mariota was in shotgun. The pass was touched by the defender which makes everyone eligible. He could have started under center.

Austin is right in that it is not reviewable but I don't agree with the ruling. Ball was coming out right after he was hit. Judgement call.

This crew had problems spotting the ball as well...both short wings (Line Judge and Down Judge [formerly Head Linesman but changed to women officiating now]) left their spots to report fouls and subsequently spots were lost. You have a headset, use it and hold the spot so a team doesn't have to waste a challenge...

I have always thought that Jeff Triplette was horrible.

The comment about Mariota being in a shotgun formation is bananas.

It's generally a good idea to spell the individual's name correctly when giving a shoutout.

Jacksonville got a TD today that wasn't a catch, and sealed it up with an INT that wasn't a catch either.

It's being reported that Jeff Triplette retired today.

so was his doing a playoff game a "reward" for his career? he couldnt possibly be one of the best refs during the regular season. will the NFL be required to hire another redneck to replace him?

Not sure why he is in the booth on game day. His presence doesn't add much

2 catches that were non catches (only based on evidence of past plays being reviewed and waved off...they certainly looked like catches) and they didn't run 10 seconds off the clock at the end of the game as they should of in that game.

no review on the carolina "int" that he barely held onto before it was knocked out and pushed out of bounds and then the intentionaly grounding call on cam when he was clearly out of the pocket.

horrible weekend for the NFL in the land of officiating.

agree on the 4th down INT possibly not being a catch.... the CAM intentional grounding was borderline, he looked to be right at the spot that would be defined the limits of the tackle box.

when i saw tripplette making a call on TV i instantly thought to myself this guy couldnt possibly have been graded out as a top official, why is he reffing this game?

Ref talk is also right up Danny Mac's (and Finji's, RIP) alley.

i'm a michigan fan so critiquing referees and umpires harshly comes with the territory.

This failed the smell test immediately....that was clearly intentional grounding.

when he released teh ball he was right about behind where the RT lined up before the play, so almost outside of the tackle box... if he was 2 or 3 feet closer to the sidelines it would have been a good throw away and no penalty.... watch the replay on that... the saint DE destroyed the right tackle AND poor little christian mccaffrey to almost sack CAM
