Didn't really care for her. May change my mind based on one (1) pithy twitter post. Nicely done.

it is undignified for a legislator to refer to the president in such a way, even though her sentiment is spot on

While true, the president chastising the House/Senate in a public forum to shame the body into bowing when he says bow using language and tone he chose is also undignified. It also is a little creepy. It is hard to take a cheap shot at any president, even if deserved. Coming from her, and in the way she did it was just about perfect. Dignity no longer exists, and it may be folly at this point with this President to attempt to take the high road. Just be more specific in your undignified push back.

I'm with dolphin ... but once in a while, if one finds themselves in a shitfight, it's not entirely beyond understanding if they throw a handful of shit back at the opponent(s).

But in this time it may be unreasonably to judge her by yesterday's mores and traditions.

True. However if the goal is to reestablish those in the future it may be best to pull your punches even if your opponent deserves to get dropped.

That being said Cadet Bone Spurs is excellent.

Our biggest critique of President Obama was precisely that he unnecessarily pulled his punches.

Which got us President Bone Spurs.

That's fair but we're also judging him the way we judged the other 42 men who held that office before him. We may never have another black president in our lifetime but I'll argue his behavior and pulling of punches made it more likely that we will. The next person won't have to pull as many.

I dunno, you can get Trump on a lot of things, but trying to avoid killing and dying in a stupid and unjust war isn't one of them. Like the tax stuff, that makes him smart. I know that's hard for Tammy Duckworth to understand because she owes her career to getting maimed in another stupid and unjust war but also being a Democrat, but the draft was bad, Vietnam was bad, and you had to reckon with neither, so lay off.

It's definitely fair for a guy who pretends to be tough and consistently questions the heart and toughness of others. It's also fair for a guy who wants to send someone else's kids into battle to prove that toughness.

She is not judged by Trump's actions.

All good points by RR, NAS and CH and of course good dolphin. CH's point specifically provided Tammy an opportunity to make a statement that while not of statesman (statesperson) quality, it needed to be said. There are too many instances where the current president is making vociferous statements about those in public office. In this instance and others, it has the appearance of suggesting a change in the approach to the style of government to a more fascist style of rule. A democracy doesn't seem to fit his personality. I NOW believe there are points where this President's comments pertaining to the system of government in the U.S. must be checked. When appropriate, certain statespersons need to push back. The concern is at some point if a media savvy president of this caliber is not checked, and is continuously allowed to make statements unchecked, having the appearance of successfully bullying his agenda to the public, the public will become more docile in accepting changes that dramatically affect the system of government as we know it.

The dude stated members of Congress should kiss the ring. Someone needed to push back with the same invective. Few were in a better situation to do it well as succinctly as Tammy did. We cannot all swing the pen/twitter as well as good dolphin. It may not be understood if it is.

I agree with this, but I don't think democracy fits Americans too well, either. We're just peasants who wanted either a kind-but-firm mommy or a strong and abusive daddy to circumvent legislative bodies and benevolently rule over us. If we're getting more fascist, it's because it's what we want.
