No you don’t say Happy Memorial Day. If you have the thought at some point take a moment to think about all the people that died in military conflict for this country we call ours.

Go on about your business and enjoy the day or and whatever you do today but a short thought is nice. Maybe if you happen to see a flag do it then.

Anyway don’t thank a regular veteran or cops or paramedics and all that either. There is a different time to do that.

If you have a family member in this category sorry for your loss and thanks.

Soapbox off,
Pittmike

Bart: I just think our veterans deserve a little recognition.

Lisa: That's what Veterans Day is for, Bart.

Bart: But is that really enough to honor our brave soldiers?

Lisa: They also have Memorial Day!

Bart: Oh, Lisa, maybe you're right, maybe you're wrong, the important thing is that veterans deserve a day to honor them!

Lisa: They have two!

Bart: Well, maybe they should have three. I'm Bart Simpson

I don't think we're allowed to be proud of our veterans anymore Mike. Jingoism, white supremacy, bombing brown people, etc.

Agreed. Thank you to the wise men for the creation of CFMB, and community for our fellowship. Their sacrifice is immeasurable.

There's been a guy and his family driving around with Puerto Rico flags all over this car and I understand the fact they are a commonwealth of the US but some hilljack out here is going to take them out.

I was one of two houses on my block that had the flag out front for the entire weekend. I was mildly bummed about that.

Glorious weekend filled with good food, friends, drinks, and a bit of golf. The reason for it being a Holiday did not go unnoticed.

Yeah Frank the flag on major holidays seems to be going away to some degree with youth. Maybe people don't like to mount things on their houses or some weird thing. I would say a full fledged flag pole is a bit much.

How do you feel about the president's tweet above?

While saying it can't completely be non political i.e. parades etc. I do not like that statement.

The biggest coward in the country propping himself up with the valor of our soldiers killed in action. Unreal.

Of course that's ignorant as fuck. Trump is an ignoramus. You seem to think that fact justifies nullifying the votes of a large segment of our countrymen and I do not. That's where you and I disagree when it comes to Trump.

It absolutely can and should be non political and non partisan.

Yes. That's what most people have done forever. It doesn't mean they want to overturn an election.

But people complaining about the government is as American as apple pie and baseball.

But there is a movement to remove this particular president. That's what #RESIST is all about. "IMPEACH 45!" If all you're doing is complaining without some extra-Constitutional end game, by all means, carry on.

They wanted to "IMPEACH 42" over a blowjob back in the 90s. You make me laugh though.

The only thing about impeachment of Trump that would get me a little excited is the prospect of President Mike Pence.

So maybe partisan politics is a just a nature of the beast and the emergence of twitter is throwing it more in our face vs some unfair/unseen agenda against #45?

Its hard to ratchet up much support for Trump given the fact that he attempted to (nullify) an election himself. He also threatened to nullify this particular election if he lost.

There are sympathetic figures for which one should empathize with but he wouldn't be one of them.

It was his attempts at nullification which paved the way for his entry into politics. Not only did his nullification attempts pave the way but it also shaped the way that he has conducted himself as President.

He realized that a certain segment of the population would believe anything no matter how outlandish. He also realized that the media would cover him no matter how bombastic he appeared.
